agree with that, I don't, or didn't like him very much, I'm starting to tolerate him a bit more now. Will favour him over groves if they fight now, think froch will still beat him though,
No fickle would be those writing him off after his early days crossroads match with Groves. (same as it was fickle of people to write off Chisora after he lost to Fury...and yet here we've come full-circle in both cases with DeGale currently poised in better position to contend than Groves is to again do anytime soon and the clear A-side favorite if they were to rematch now, and with an empty-handed Fury set to challenge for Chisora's European title)
Its not just that DeGale has improved massively, he said himself he found it hard to motivate himself to fight sub standard opponents at places like Bluewater shopping centre. :deal
I have had a Gilmour groin injury myself and unless it is something that goes undiagnosed for a long time, it can be treated within a couple of months. The pain in the groin area can be quite sharp, but I have never noticed any problems with Degale's movement, he seemed hesitant to throw sometimes, which seemed to be more of a confidence thing.
No. I'm talking about one guy being ranked much higher right now, and streaking 10-0 with good form, and the other having been stopped twice consecutively (to a world titlist and divisional #1, so no shame in that) and then looking ****-poor in his two comeback attempts thus far. DeGale is clearly ascendant while Groves is on the skids. I would certainly imagine that DeGale would have more leverage right now, regardless of where things stood before Froch vs. Groves I - what a difference a year makes, eh? If you mean in terms of popularity and putting butts in seats, yeah, it probably is still Groves in front having raised his profile with the Froch rivalry and generally being more likable outside the ring (and exciting within) but in fairness DeGale is the one that should be holding the upper hand if they were to negotiate a rematch at present. He put in the work and earned his ranking, that's worth something. Groves has a lot of rebuilding to do - and if he wants to skip it with a shortcut through DeGale, it'll need to be on DeGale's terms since he at this point doesn't need Groves to get a title shot, when he can instead simply wait and let it come to him with his mandatory position.
Oosthuizen is total **** though you can scratch that name off the list to big up gonzales, he was on a massive slide already, the weight limit was killing him and his head isn't in boxing anymore it seems. I thought gonzales would put up a better fight vs degale but unluckily for him he got chinned with a sweeping hook as he was backing up with his hands down. **** happens.
Were they at their best? No...but neither came to lie down, either. Both got outclassed, simple as. (same as did the run of several B-/C+ opponents preceding them in the post-Groves comeback). DeGale seems damned if he does and damned if he doesnt. Win on points and let opponents have moments of illusionary success flurrying on him against the ropes - and he's dull, and flawed. Dominate and turn up the heat - and his opponents "didn't show up". :conf I used to dislike Chunky as much as the next person and rooted for Groves against him, but he really doesn't get a fair shake and to be completely honest deserves one now after having buckled down and gone to work for and few years.
