He took Hopkins to win. No way could Hopkins have won. Even an unprepared, naive, underperforming Calzaghe managed to beat him, thanks to his dad in the corner.

A Hopkins avatar is a punishment since Hopkins is a big-mouthed disgrace. He knew he could not win, and instead of winning the first couple of rounds clearly and making a real fight of it for the rest, which would have given him the moral victory, brought him respect and legendary status for years to come, he spared himself for the first rounds and then cheated in a despicable way later on.

I am wearing a Hopkins avatar because Dorfmeister got the wrong end of the stick; won't make another avatar bet with him any time soon, that's for sure...

Most of what he said in that analysis had been said before; all the critical points had been made before. Didn't see the wood for the trees, like brooklyn1550 and Dorfmeister, who also had good analyses.

Fair enough. Guess I'm still surprised that so many people expected Joe to look like the second coming last week. Some of the reasons for why he didn't are humorous.

Exactly. Calzaghe prepared better than he has before. He knew he was in for a tough fight. He knew how Hopkins was going to fight - he just couldn't do anything about it.

I have seen the fight very closely and it's absolutely unreasonable to say that Hopkins did anything to bring himself disrespect. Hopkins is very crafty, extremelly cagey and he made Joe miss with jabs and left hands. Bernard was as sure to initiate clinches and nail him in the blind side of the ref as Joe was to hit him in the back of the head with the inside of his glove... But that's not what Hop is all about, he feinted with his body and with short footwork and found his mark with very crisp shots... God, Enzo had to ask Joe if he wanted to be stopped or stop Bernard at the end of the 6th, Bernard even flurried with Joe in the 11th and beat him to the punch many times... There were low blows, clinches and warnings for either side... Joe Cortez was not to be a factor... Basically, most of you didn't believe that it would be hard fought and that's what you get for seeing it just from one side. And let me tell you something, Joe got to Bernard at the end and they both touched cheeks and said something to each other in a very friendly way - and that is the acknowledgement of a fighter to another... Forget about blind nutthuggery, the Kessler fight, about Jones being a legend and Hop not, Joe toughed out his hardest win last Sat nite.
