I truly believe Chris has the talents and skills to go far with his boxing style. Just needs more improvement and a real boxing trainer. I think guys like Robert Garcia, Virgil Hunter, or even Roach could do wonders with him.

Problem is he has to pay big bucks for guys like Roach. He seems to only be able to afford these kickboxing and MMA knuckleheads who were ringside with him. HIs entire team seemed completely clueless and delusional.

I agree he needs another trainer. I'd like to see him go with Thurman's or Lara's trainers.

He needs do, but I doubt if he will. I think their freindship will keep them together even though Lane is holding him back. That had to be the worst game plan to win a fight I have ever come across

    "Chris its still round 1:patsch"

Tim Lane is just a kickboxing coach who happened to get the world dropped into his lap with a fight with Pacquiao.

Honestly, Tim had the right game plan.

Tim expected to Algieri to outbox Pacquaio early, tire him out, and take him into deep water in the late rounds.

What could Algieri do? Abandon his game plan completely and fight Pacquaio head to head? Algieri would have been slaughtered.

There is nothing wrong with Algieri's trainer.

It's about experience at this level. Algieri doesn't have the experience to have perfected certain nuances of the game like feinting and drawing your opponent in. That takes years and years of experience, and there is nothing Tim's trainer can really do to make Chris comfortable at doing things like that.

Chris has to learn that himself. He has to get comfortable himself. It's Tim's job to review the tape and look for tells that Chris gave Pacquaio during the fight and make adjustments from there.

It's just Pacquaio is on a different level. People think Pacquaio can't box for some reason. It's crazy to me. Just wait until Pacquaio beats the hell outta Mayweather. Hopefully, people will change their opinion about the man.

Boxing needs funding to develop new trainers in general. Fundamentals have VANISHED in boxing and it's a shame.

You need a boxing coach! :rofl:rofl

Pacquaio stamina is extremely good. When was the last time Pacquaio gassed out against any of his opponent? Their plan is to KO Pacquiao. He should've taken some risk, planted his feet and counter Pacquiao.

I didn't say it was a good plan, but it was the only viable plan.

Afterall, Pacquaio is a 35 year old man.

Team Algieri probably expected Pacquaio to miss a lot of shots, and for Chris to be more effective with his jab which would cause Pacquaio to become frusterated, thus expending more energy.

They did prepare to KO Pacquaio, but not early. Chris only has a few KOs and is not noted as an exceptional puncher.

In fact, I doubt they believed they would be able to accomplish that goal, but they figured they would gain enough of Pacquaio's respect later on to win rounds and hit him with some good shots to win rounds as in their minds, Pacquaio, a 35 year old man, would be tired at that point.

What would be your plan? Plant your feet, blow your load, and take a beating?

Really? You would tell a guy with very little power to go to war?

And you say I need a boxing coach? Tim's plan wasn't a bad plan. They just didn't anticipate Pacquaio being that good. They underestimated him. Simple as that.

Chris has good defense and good footwork. His punching technique needs work though.

That is one of the fundamental things that trainers should teach their fighters. In fact, that's the first thing all fighters should learn.

    How to punch.

    Period.

He has good skill but lacks pop in his punches. There is nothing a new trainer is going to do about that.

Besides he just fought one of the top three best fighter in the world. If anything Algieri needs to work on his defense. He's a sucker to lead rights.
