seen this mentioned a few times tonight on various threads but i believe it needs its own thread . SERIOUSLY WTF !!! firstly i put absolutely no blame whatsoever on ronnie davis !!! what the hell is going on here , i did not really pay too much attention to it when he mentioned in his press conference that "i do my own thing" "i dont need advice" bla bla and ronnie is just there so vaseline me and deal with cuts etc , i took all this with a pinch of salt . but after what i saw last night i am astounded . what the hell has eubank senior let this kid get away with to think he can totally disregard a trainers advice and instructions . that fight went wrong from the first bell and nothing was said until round 6 when ronnie HAD to tell the kid for his own good that he was tossing this fight away and tried to give him advice and eubank response was to tell ronnie to "BE QUIET" . all this may have been fine when he is fighting postman and binmen but this is world class level boxing , if he thinks he can go into fights of this magnitude with this ignorant attitude he will never become anything . serious changes need to be made immediately , but here is the million dollar question .. who is going to tell the eubanks and will they even listen ? , i think senior is so stubborn which has clearly reflected on to junior and they think they know everything that nothing is likely to change . that corner is a joke , i feel so sorry for ronnie davis , he is a quality trainer and he is just being embarrassed by all this .
I posted this earlier in another thread but thought this one was more relevant. As i said in the previous thread I talked to Ronnie last night and I don't think he is going to tak much more of this before he calls it a day. In my opinion the huge problem is Sr. Why does he think he is more helpful standing and posing in the corner than Ronnie, whos trained 2 world champions and was in the corner for him during the most succesful part of his own career! Knowing Ronnie as i do and knowing that he walked away from Sr once, I can't see him hanging around for much longer if this kind of thing continues to happen and I think he will walk away from boxing for good if that is what he decides to do, which would be a huge shame in my opinion.
This "trainer" cant have much pride to allow this nonsense occuring on his watch.Sounds like he was there for a payday for 12 rounds of humiliation to me.
My sentiments exactly. Let's be honest, Ronnie Davies advice was all along the lines of ''Beat the f uck out of him.'' Not exactly Eddie Futch. At least Eubank senior was giving some semi-technical advice. Davies owes his career to Eubank Sr, he'll do whatever he's told. Always has, always will.
The problem being in tight fights that's when the trainer earns his corn technical advise etc. Eubank Jr obviously doesn't have much respect for Davies.Eubank Sr should train him if he wants to run the corner between rounds.
I think Chris Jnr was playing up in front of the cameras rather than being flat out disrespectful. At the last press conference Young Christopher got into an argument with Jimmy Tibbs that he wouldn't need any corner advice to beat Billy Joe, so I think that was his and his fathers plan, but it backfired on them.
Simple as this as ricky hatton said the eubank corner is a joke.. totally farcical. I mean what ever are they even thinking what a waste
He'll achieve f uck all until control is taken away from him, and by that I mean a trainer who tells him what to do, not the other way around, and a trainer who tells his father , "you're welcome to watch training but if you offer advice even one when Im coaching, your son is all yours again" If thats Britain then IMO that means Adam Booth, as he's not afraid to walk away.
