I didn't, i expected it to be boring and it was, who's clever idea was it to match 2 boring f ucks against each other?, madness.
If he wouldn't get down to 140 when he started he won't now. This is the stage of his career when he should be thinking about moving up a weight, not down.
If he has no pop at 147, what makes you think he'd have any at 154? Besides, can you imagine Canelo/Gavin? It wouldn't last long!
He did start professionally at 140lb but decided to move up as he couldn't be ****d to diet and train properly.
You just have to look at Frankie on the scales to see there is an easy 7lb there to lose. Said after the Bundu loss that he needs to decide what he wants to do with his career. I think he has great potential which he can probably only realise at LWW, but does he have the attitude and commitment to make 140? I'm not sure. Its a shame as like I said, there is clearly talent there.
I'm not saying he should move up, but that in the normal course of events he should have started at light-welter and now be thinking of moving up to welter.
He is exactly the type of fighter that needs a strength and conditioning coach, I know a lot of people say they aren't needed but in practice what self respecting athlete competes at anything less than their physical best?
Yeah I'd agree, but I think Gavin just hasn't got good genetics. Someone like Mike Tyson could have been a Milkman and he'd have looked better than 99.9% of the worlds population. Some have it and others don't.
I don't mean he has to look like Anthony joshua when he enters the ring, Calzaghe never looked muscled but he always looked fit/solid/athletic. Maidana doesn't look ripped but Ariza had him look athletic, likewise Brandon Rios... There is no excuse for a paunch when your job is to be a professional fighter, even Hatton never looked fat in the ring and he was blob outside of camp.
