I like McGregor, one of the few MMA fighters who doesn't look like a complete idiot on the feet. He's being pushed because he's dynamic/exciting and that's what fans want to see, not boring wrestlers playing it safe. McGregor has already proved that at least some of the hype is warranted.

I was hearing about that for a while...Absolutely despicable. The sponsorships were the main source of income for many of these guys. The UFC is taking every opportunity to exploit the fighters they have under contract.

Pretty soon we are going to see the UFC taking ppv points away from the top draws.

Just another sign that the UFC is not generating the revenue that they used to.

Indeed. You've been saying it for literally ten years now. And when you started saying it, MMA was already over a decade old. As of 2014, pay-per-view MMA has been around longer than some of its up-and-coming prospects have been alive.

Yes, MMA seems to have reached a plateau.

No, it will not die out.

Too much cultural momentum at this point. If nothing else, MMA brought the cat out of the bag when it came to style vs. style fights and the most realistic way to train for martial arts. That's never going away. Most likely scenario, it remains a medium-sized but relevant sport.

(FFS, have you seen some of the sports that have survived decade after decade? Wake me up when people stop competing in caber-tossing, alligator wrestling, and professional snooker -- and then we can talk about how a sport that does 2 million views on a mainstream network is "dying out".)

This. However, it is hilarious looking back at Dana White's infamous interview where he said he guarantees MMA is bigger than soccer world wide and will be an Olympic sport soon.

It's sad to see the sport die for me in a lot of ways, it was fun watching Arlovski, Fedor, Liddell, etc. I do however enjoy seeing Dana eat gigantic amounts of crow for his ridiculously poor treatment of everyone not making him $

and nobody took it seriously, it should have been off tv.

CM Punk in the UFC is the equivalent of HBO sports showing celebrity boxing, and on PPV no less lol.

The UFC got downgraded by 40%, Dana refuses to do press conferences even in Vegas, fighters are angry about the new uniform deal, TV ratings and PPV buyrates are down significantly etc etc.

This is the UFCs worst year since they got big.

There is more cards today than ever before,it's not down just balanced.

Back then they averaged 1 ppv a month so ppl where much more suspenseful to buy one.

Anthony Petis on the cover of wheaties is proof of its popularity. The only boxer to ever be on it was Ali .

Zuffa can rot in hell the tight ****d money grabbing horrible ****s

But Jones vs Cormier is bigger than anything boxing can offer*. A 4-5 years too late Pacquiao Mayweather?? Id still rather watch Jones Cormier

And MW is now utterly stacked. Once Anderson minces cherrypicked-by-Dana-for-maximum-Anderson showcase-minimum-risk Diaz, will be great to see him against some of the more recent talent there

Boxing at its best is by far the better sport IMO, but since the so called best are usually doing what they can to duck the best, it suffers greatly. Unbelievably talented guys like Golovkin and Rigondeux get no chance to show their world beater powers or struggle in obscurity while its top stars like Mayweather and Pacquiao cowardly hide behind greedy promoters to get filthy rich in the easiest way possible

Anyway, Michael Buffer >>>>>>> his absolute **** of an annoying brother

*Palhares vs D. White would really be the best fight, but D. White wants no part of it

Yeah, i'm sure they are thrilled with their ppv numbers going down the toilet from what they were.

Boxing has better developing stars, while the UFC needs a wrassler with no fighting ability.

This last PPV which on paper was good is trending surprisingly low (ino its's early), the last few ppv numbers haven't even been rumored by the usual sources, the longer it takes the worse they are. MMA is not gonna die, but I wouldn't be shocked to see ZUFFA sell in a few years, after they milk every dime.

    This.

Something needs to change, big time...

GSP, if he retires, will really hurt Zuffa. That was their 'Golden Ticket' and now it's more or less gone.

Connor will get beaten by the elite.

Ronda will get beaten once Cyborg gets over there.

Anderson is on the way out.

Bones isn't marketable, same as Cain.

Pettis is always injured, so he struggles to gain momentum needed to be a huge crossover star.

Signing Punk is a sign of how badly Zuffa are hurting. What next? Get Hogan in? Come on...:lol:

Also, having FW's and BW's etc actually HEADLINE a PAY PER VIEW card is NOT a good look for MMA. Boxing, yes. But not MMA.
