Just saw this journeyman heavyweight passed away about a week ago. He started his career 22-0, winning a trinket along the way and earning him a world ranking. I remember a lot of his fights on ESPN back when I first was getting into boxing. He had a cool story, having served a tour of duty in Desert Storm, which was also his boxing nickname. Details are sketchy on his death. He was 44 years old.
Wow...!!! R.I.P. Robert Davis. I worked with Keith McKnight, and we fought Robert for the NABF Heavyweight Championship. Davis won via 5th Round KO. Davis was very gracious, and a humble young man. Had all the makeup to be a decent boxer, just needed better management behind him.
Fought a great fight against terry lewis. Watch it if you get chance. Was a contender for fight of the year ( 2001 I think) . RIP to the saint
