The Hearns that looked not to great against Hill and Barkley at that point?

    1990 Hearns wasn't all that.

I'd have to pick Benn, by very early KO or close UD, you would never know.

The reason I chose 1990 is I cant see benn getting the chance to fight him before then. On another note? did Barkley just not expects benn's onslaught? or was there more to it.

IF benn lands clean he can knock out tommy, but tommy could easily outbox or knock out benn as well....
The 87/88 tommy might have stopped nigel in one round....Nigel was too open and wild.

Benn was supposed to be fighting Hearns after DeWitt.

Probably 2-3 rounds either way, 4 at the most, maybe.

Tommy defeated an undefeated champion with 11 title defences behind him, in a weight class that was not his natural one. He looked pretty damm good to me.

Benn can knock out Hearns for sure but beat him on points? No chance.

In 1990 this is a real 'pick-em' fight. Whoever lands cleanly first will win.

People always say about Hearns chin, but Benn's was just as bad, if not worse.
Tommy would stop him early, just can't see Benn getting anywhere near him. There's always the chance of Benn catching Tommy, but I jsut don't see it happening.

Different class, I love Benn but he's got nothing on Tommy.

I see another Hagler/Barkley type mauling in store for Tom. Nigel is the exact type of fighter the Cobra always had trouble with.

Hearns if he keeps him at a distance and ties him up when he gets inside.

A classic 'whoever lands first'. Hearns does, probably in the first round.

Tommy was taken the distance and knocked down once by the relatively light-hitting Leonard the year before. Now a year older, Hearns faces the prospect of going up in weight again, this time against a SUPER FAST, SUPER HARD basher....haven't we heard this story before?

In 1990, this would've been a mismatch and a half.

Who is trying to get Tommy legally murdered?

Roldan and cuevas were also tremendous punchers yet tommy still disposed of them.

i'd highly dispute that. benn's chin wasn't the greatest but against great MW bangers i'd back his to stand up more than tommy's.

benn's KO count on his losses is a little misleading.
