I just want to see good fights and the best fight the best once and awhile. Obviously i can see why HBO and Showtime care but it's being used more blatently now as an excuse mainly by one fighter named Floyd to duck fights when he chooses. I don't really give a damn if some fight failed and had low numbers. It's like the best excuse to use now to duck a fight. They also don't take into consideration the amount of subscribers...etc... involved.
Well, Mayweather fighting scrubs and doing shiiit numbers forced Mayweather to fight Canelo and its now forcing him to fight Pac....so PPV numbers are important. The casual boxing fan isn't a blithering tool and will not shell out for garbage.
Yeah but a lot of fights leading upto a PPV event aren't ppv. Then it's just about viewing numbers etc
If a fight doesn't do a million and only 700k buys it makes no difference to me. I only hear one boxer mainly rambling on about it and that's Floyd. He's guaranteed a big payday anyway regardless. It doesn't tell you the quality of the fight. Canelo vs Mayweather was a boring fight.
****ing really hate it, i love boxing yet its one of the most dirty bull**** sports out there. All the other sports i love are set in leagues, have tables, everybody has to face everybody at some point in a season, theres no getting out of it, no bull**** and at the end of the season you know who is the best, no argument. Not sayin i would want to put boxing in that format or anything daft like that but the sport in it should run pure, no PPV, date problems, 50/50 purse splits (the fight should have nothing to do with money) Boxers should be told who to fight, when to fight and for how much. 2nd rank boxer gets the title shot simple as that, cant be ducked.
Look at the threads created about PPV AND networks, it's usually Pac fans. FACT! Remember the thread about Pac making 750K PPV against Algieri? But they don't care :rofl:rofl:rofl Oh the hypocrisy
