Froch has chance now to be ATG

It would be nice if he became the best fighter in his division before being called an 'ATG'. He's never been number one at 168.

 

Definitely a British atg, not for the sport overall (beat ward and I may change my mind), definite hall of fame though, shouldn't take too long for him to get in (poss first ballot depending on who else is eligible that year)

he's the best active super middle, and would almost certainly be rematching him in vegas to close his career if he weren't. i stated in another thread he's just shy of elite and probably would be in the days of 15+ rounds. i don't know if that's enough to be atg, but suspect not.

 

By default then? Once Ward fights again surely he becomes 'active'. Froch's reign as the 'best' might be short-lived.

 

how the hell do you rematch the inactive? it's amazing that anybody would try to disparage froch's standing because ward has done nothing for 3 years!

 

don't hold your breath. even then it depends on if he can make 168, whom he fights and how he does. ward's last opponent worthy of the man was froch 3 years ago!

He's a good fighter with a 15 round old school mentality but he's not an all time great. He was never top dog in his division

 

except for right now, of course.

 

Pascal - Was green but a decent win
Bute - Fought bums, already should have got KO'd vs Andrade first time around.
Dirrell - Hometown robbery
Kessler 2 - Came of a 13 month semi-retirement with career ending eye injury having fought terrible opposition before hand.
Glenn Johnson - Way past it, old grandad.
Abraham - No business at 168, too short and small.
Groves - Very green hasn't proven anything.

Is this really an ATG british resume?

The Bute win was a good win, as many expected Bute to win. He had an undefeated record, even though many felt he could have suffered a KO loss to Andrade, he hadnt, so that was a good win. If Anthony Dirrell was beaten by someone now, it could be seen as a good win, as he is an undefeated world champ, yet Bute beat Bika far more convincingly, as well as Magee and Johnson, who Froch struggled with. Though I do see what you are saying and agree with alot of it.
J Taylor was on a run of 1-2, found he wasnt able to be as successful at SMW and dropped back to MW, so I dont overly rate that win like many would and felt Taylor was well ahead, but credit to Froch in coming back to win and think Froch may have frozen a bit on the night, like I think Bute did, when fighting Froch away

 

12 world title fights in a row for legit world titles is good enough for me
