Tyson also fought guys that were 6'6 like Kevin McBride, Eddie Richardson, and Lewis. And the Hasaga is not even close to be as competitive as these guys.
Just finished watching, its on youtube for now rds 1-6 rigo was being rigo, doing good body work and busting the japs face up rd 7 rigo got caught clean going out the back door, his head bounced on the canvas. Brutal KD. He gets up and the 2nd KD was clearly a push down. Rigos eyes are scrambled. 8-9 rigo steps it up and starts landing the straight left at will 10 the jap goes down hard from a straight left, jaw looks badly broke 11 jap is getting torched, fight is stopped in corner
Head banged off the canvas after being caught clean, eyes scrambled during 2nd KD Has glass jaw? Hardly! Heart of a lion by the sounds of things WAR RIGO :bbb
Good stuff from Rigondeaux. I wouldn't call it a war. Most rounds was Rigs being Rigs, controlling the pace, and action. Rounds he kept focused he won easy. The round or two he drifted off, he got caught. That first knockdown was legit, although Rigs didn't seem hurt. The second he was simply thrown to the canvas by Amagasa, a punch might have landed before hand, but it wasn't what put him down. There was another spot where Rigs was buzzed in the fight. The round where he had buckled Amagasa and went in for the kill. Amagasa nailed him right on the button with a right hand, and Rigs attempted to clinch and hold a few times afterward. Then went back to moving. Outside of two or three spots, Amagasa didn't have much success the whole fight. His face took a brutal beating. I thought his corner probably could have stopped it a round earlier. From the grotesque facial swellings he had, it's possible he has a facial fracture around his right eye, and a broken jaw. These types of opponents seem to lull Rigs to sleep at times. I would prefer to see him in with guys closer to his size, height rather.
Probably broke his jaw. The right side of Amagasa's face looked similar to Donaire's after Rigs pumpkined him up. Rigondeaux be giving opponents the pumpkin face.
Just this one, and the Donaire fight. Not really sure why people say he doesn't have a chin. Every time he has been hurt or down in a fight, he recovers well. Also, the guys that have buzzed him or dropped him, were bigger. Not sure people realize how small Rigondeaux really is. You can look at the face offs before his fights, and see that he isn't 5'5, or even 5'4, by how much shorter he is than guys like Donaire, Agbeko etc. He doesn't gain much weight after weigh ins either. Donaire probably outweighed him by 10+ pounds in the ring when they fought.
