Tyson Fury avoided Price because of the way he destroyed Mcdermott

Agreed - Fury is underrated.

 

Every so often the question of Fury avoiding Price comes up. The usual arguments are that Fury was concerned about Price's power.

The question for me is does Price have earth shattering power, if yes who has he actually knocked out who could be considered a high level performer?

On his step up in class he didn't perform well and got knocked out himself.

Fury has done well, better than many expected and is still a live contender. We all know there are questions about him.

 

Erm, Mike Tyson was a midget compared to Tyson Fury! Its going to take longer for Fury to physically mature.

That article is a result of lazy journalism. And is the only place that says they ever fought twice. Simply because they didn't!

The journalist has skim read some articles and seen 'Fury lost out again to Price in 2008' [when he was chosen for the GB Olympic Squad ahead of Fury] and lazily put 2+2 together and come up with 5. They only fought once, there was a video article on it on Ringside.

I'll dig out Fury's 4 amateur defeats.

The point I was making about Price being stopped and or decked by so many fighters in the amateurs (including by a teenage Fury himself!) was that Fury would have had no reason to fear Price as he knew as did anyone else who had followed his amateur career just how fragile and chinny he was ... As has since been proved by his stoppages to Thompson and knockdown to Pala in his last fight, a guy Chisora stopped in a couple of rounds.

Not really sure why you have decided to drag up such an old angle anyway as their careers have subsequently gone in totally different directions with Fury fighting Hammer and Wlad in his next two fights and Price scheduled to fight some chump ranked 500 buried away on an undercard in Germany ...

 

i'm still gonna go with a boxing journalist over some random on the internet. i've read it elsewhere too, but am happy to be proven wrong.

my issue is with these delusional fury fans accusing others of ducking their man when the only definite duck is fury of price. if fury had nothing to fear, as you argue, the duck is worse, but price can bang and we've seen fury flattened by opponents not renowned for power.

we'll see about fury's next 2 fights. i strongly suspect wlad will wanna unify and become undisputed at the earliest available opportunity, leaving fury with an opening for a keep busy tune-up. maybe he could duck price again?

As I said all articles only ever reference the one fight between Price and Fury. This article written when Fury turned pro references his rivalry with Price quite a bit including Fury knocking Price down. No mention of two fights though ...

Boxrec has Fury's two championship am defeats to Sardor Abudullayev 31-36 on his way to getting a bronze in the World junior Championships.

The other was to Maxim Babanin of Russia 11-24 in 2007 in the final of the European Juniors with Fury medalling silver.

The following year Fury became the ABA World Super Heavyweight Champion.

We know he lost to Price in his 9th fight ... So that leaves one more defeat. I have read nowhere other than that BBC article it was to Price a second time.

I am off out for NYE now! But if not too hungover tomorrow will find out who Fury's other defeat was to.

fury is ok, but has looked pretty woeful whenever i've watched him, talks outta his backside (parroted by his fans) and has ducked fighting anyone close to his own size who could be a threat. my issue is with his delusional fans, as stated to max above.

I've always agree with you on most things Antonio but I think your not judging Fury fairly on this one. He is alot better then your making out, don't get me wrong he isn't elite but he is above Price in my book whether he ducked him or not.
