Pac is not a lightweight and he fought Oscar at 147 but not Cotto. Meaning the cw was to the benefit of Pac and used as a handicap rather than to compensate.

 

Dawson's team formally requested a catchweight near the middle in negotiations and were rebuffed by Ward.

 

As did Canelo who said he would fight Floyd at 150.

 

Same thing can be said about Canelo with the Mayweather situation. It's literally no different.

I agree with this. The difference was that it made Mayweather and his sack riders look like total hypocrites for harping about that catchweight for three years and then Mayweather goes and pulls it.

Good win, Cotto was in great shape and also mind you, Cotto weighed in @ 146 just 4 months before the Pacquiao bout against Clottey.

Even if they have fought @ 146, Pacquiao is just a better fighter than Cotto.

I didn think cotto looked drained he looked the same to me ,it's a great win considering the size too. Couldn't believe Pacquios chin and power in that fight he literally walked through cottos best shots and had cotto cowering away when he hit him. He looked like sub a force against Judah and kept walking him down despite being nailed but Pacquio had him scared in there even when he was having success

 

Beating someone on the scales was a favourite tactic of Team Pacquiao, and really undermined several of his victories

Fight a guy at his proper weight. Then no one can criticise you for it. You might get beat but if you want to be Great then take that's the risk you have to take
