You must be pretty young because that's not the way it went down.

Corrie made the cover of KO mag after stopping Cooper. And as I stated earlier, Don King was on Sanders' jock for promotion in 93. Corrie's two biggest problems were being a fast, hard hitting southpaw which no one wanted to take on and not fighting often enough. Too many guys wanted nothing to do with him. Whether it was his disinterest or disillusion for the sport that caused his ultimate inactivity and decline, I can't tell you. But having covered the guy I can tell you he was an untapped commodity.

Remember that he came along in the day the FIRST southpaw got a sniff at the title and that was a blown up light heavy.

He is for sure. But its the fashion in which Shavers lost to the smaller man and one who doesn't have a track record for dispatching opponents in that way. Also, Corrie was winning against Tubbs before that big shot landed. Shavers was getting his ass kicked from the word " go".

Yea i agree 100%, Hell Lamon Brewester waxed Klitchko too, but why isn't he the greatest thing since sliced bread??

Sanders on this forum is the Messiah and the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ..

Any day now i except to see the usual posters , yipping and yapping about how Sanders would have waxed a prime Ali..

Sanders was in retreat mode, was walked down and bombed out in the first round by Tubbs. How the hell was he winning.

Tubbs was in full control of the fights. People will say anything on here.

Prior to beating Wlad, Sanders best wins were Bobby Czyz and Michael Sprott.

[dinovelvet] "Sanders was in retreat mode, was walked down and bombed out in the first round by Tubbs."

You are factually incorrect here. Have you even watched the fight? In addition, Sanders was boxing Tubbs' ears off. That's because he was landing 2-3 punches for every one that Tubbs landed. You, know, how you are supposed to do in boxing.

[azzer85] "What tough guys did Sanders put away? Bobby Czyz? Michael Sprott? "

Amongst others. Al Cole had a reputation for an indestructible chin and Sanders carpet-bombed him in the first round. Art Card went 10 with Holmes the fight before and Sanders disposed of him with ease. Levi Billups had taken Lewis the distance (and made a fight of it) and Sanders mopped him up easily. Bert Cooper, who was nobody's cupcake, was taken care of early. Du Plooy, another useful puncher, was KO'd in round one. And so on.

Sprott says Sanders had inhuman power, and he has been in with some good fighters but no really top tier unless you count Pulev. Still it is a nice little comment on Sanders power from a good journeyman fighter. Nothing to do with Joshua.
