Yeah, it makes sense that those two no longer speak, right? I read some youtube comment once about this and then did my research on it. That comment by Nelson was interesting and to me he was referring to the kidnapping incident. I just didn't know if it was ever confirmed though. What a coward the Prince is if this is indeed true.
Can't see it being true, when I searched it I seen the YouTube comment your on about. All it's being based on is a YouTube comment and a few words from Nelson in an interview where he says "how he knows and Naz knows he knows"... think that's a case of you adding 1 + 1 and getting 3 :good
Possibly, but this was the only thing I could think about when he said what Nas did was unforgivable. Johnny said if the beef was just off words, that would be one thing but this was a serious matter. Did Nas burn his bridges with everyone? At least he has in the last few years gone to more of these big fights.
"Naseem Hamed was a gym mate of his and pestered me to sign up Johnny. I told Naz if Johnny was fighting in my back garden I'd close the curtains but I eventually did a deal with him and he had a couple of really good wins. Nelson's friendship with Hamed soured though - when Naz went off on his own, he told Johnny he'd sorted out a multi-fight, £1million deal with HBO. I remember phoning Lou Di Bella, at that time head of HBO, from my office, with Johnny present. "Who is Johnny Nelson?" asked Di Bella. He hadn't even heard of him, let alone offered him a deal!" That could be a possible reason - Naz telling Nelson he had a big time HBO deal in place then Di Bella not having a clue ! To be fair, it could just be that Naz became even more of a ****er and was saying things to the Ingles about Nelson as well as vice versa. You just don't know. As entertaining as he was in the ring as well as outside of it, he was very much up his own **** which put a lot of people - including his gym mates - off of him.
That crossed my mind as well but still think it was worse. It could be something different than the kidnapping incident but it must be bad regardless. Yeah, seems like he was a real jerk outside the ring. His crew consisted of moron family members and that doesn't help either. I can't believe he told Johnny to leave Ingle once he left him LOL. I was soooooo wishing he would have fought Floyd after the Chico fight. Not that it was ever seriously talked about, but the press conferences would have been exciting nonetheless Ha. The fight itself may have been one sided though.
Why did Nelson get kidnapped in the first place? Was he an **** outside of the ropes? Did he cross some gangsters etc? Always seemed down to earth, but you can see he'd take no sh*t off anyone if you watch his earlier interviews. I rate him, personally. Bloody brilliant pundit in the studio. That's where he's at his absolute best.
To be clear, he was never kidnapped as undercover cops found out the plan before it happened. He said it was due to jealously. I shouldn't be making these assumptions, but man I just think Nas was involved in some way. These fighters are ruthless inside and outside the ring. No different from Floyd getting a few people beat up by his goons.
After the Thompson vs Nelson fight there were some things hinted at by Thompson... Anyone know what they were?
Because he alluded/hinted to things..... but was quite vague... I was wondering what the full story was.
The Carl Thompson loss was more due to a mixture of arrogance and naïveté. Prime cruiserweight Haye would have beaten carl easily IMHO and I've got nothing but respect for the cat. Anyway, think that haye's speed and power would have been too much for nelson. Not sure I could pick out any of johnny a wins as a good indicator he 'd best the bermondsey big mouth.
