Wilder boxed masterfully. It was every bit as perfect as Fury's decimation of Chisora except Fury actually forced DelBoy to throw in the towel, whereas Stiverne had much more on the line than a shot at Wladimir, so he continued in his pathetic attempt at chasing Wilder. This fight reminded me a lot of RJJ's fight with John Ruiz. It gave us a moment of excitement but ended faster than it started. Wilder is an Al GAYMAN fighter, so he'll not be forced into a fight vs a prime Tarver or sturdy Glen Johnson. That would be like Wilder fighting Potvetkin and Pulev in consecutive fights. Just not gonna happen. MOF......I doubt he fights anyone the calibre of Tony Thompson in the next 18 months. IMO, Vitali will excercise his mandate and force Wilder to vacate before Christmas.:think
You two should get a room. You could weepingly console each other about how you were both so completely wrong in your pre-fight predictions and maybe start to come to terms with your obsession with glass. It would be too much to hope for some acknowledgement of Wilder's achievement, instead of flat out classless "it was a fluke'" excuses for getting it WRONG.
Stiverne didn't land clean, couldn't reach him, but still had him wobbled with some glancing blows. I thought Stiverne had a chance right up to the end to land the money shot but it wasn't to be. Somebody else is going to check that chin soon enough.
The end of round 3 was a knockdown as Stiverne's knee hit the canvas before he tackled Wilder. Not only that, but Stiverne was out on his feet, stumbled and fell when attempting to stand, and watch when he takes his stool. He doesn't know where he's at. :nut Finally, when the bell sounds for round 4, watch Stiverne standing by the ropes. He's clearly not fully recovered, and doesn't seem eager to start the round. I believe that if Wilder had immediately gone after Stiverne at the start of round 4, he would've had yet another round 4 KO. To Stiverne's credit, he has a iron chin, and survived the fight, but when a fighter chooses to employ defensive tactics, i.e. use the high guard, not throw punches or engage in an effort to just survive, it can happen to even the best of them, e,g, Pacquiao v. Clottey, Klitschko v. Chambers.
So I guess since Wlad Klitschko hasn't been knocked out or even down for that matter in over 10 years now he has an Iron Chin? Right? :think
Wlad has a decent chin and has NEVER been knocked out. And getting knocked down is not really much of a measure of chin. Hagler, Marciano, Foreman and Ali have all been knocked down. Then again, maybe all of them have glass chins as well. :think You crowd are truly paaaaaathetic !
Glass chins EXIST in boxing, and some fighters - like Deontay Wilder - have them. As Rico has pointed out, simply because Wilder did NOT get starched by Stiverne does not mean he has an iron chin. As will undoubtedly be shown as he continues to fight top level competition, his whiskers are fragile and they WILL be shattered.:hey
This post is a good Exhibit A in the Zak/Rico Chinchecker School of YDKSAB. See, if you look at two extremes and put them on a scale, you will find there is a lot more room in the middle than on either end. Take the temperature of water: on one end you have freezing and on the other end you have boiling, and in between you have everything from cold to moderate to warming. One does not have a glass jaw if he can take a solid shot from a heavyweight with demonstrated punching power. That does not mean that the only alternative is iron jaw. Wilder showed he does not have a glass jaw: he got hit by Stiverne, a proven puncher, and nothing shattered. Wlad may not be George Chuvalo, but he, too, does not have a glass jaw. You can live in the fantasy land of "well one day he'll get knocked out and I'll jump up and down and say it proves so-and-so has a glass jaw" and ignore the fact that most boxers get knocked down, and even knocked out, at some point in their careers ... and in the make-believe world of boxing forums pretend that makes you right. But it doesn't. Even Chuvalo and Tex Cobb got stopped, but you'd have to be an idiot to say that means they had glass jaws.
Looks like you were wrong about Wilder, Zak. Who'd thunk that Wilder has a chin in league with the Tuaman. :smoke
That may well happen, but both yourself and the tiny-headed Rico assured any and all on the board that the event would take place on Saturday night. Since it did not, and since the dude defeated a top ten contender and a fearsome puncher to capture the WBC Heavy Weight title, a minimum modicum of class would dictate that the pair of you would acknowledge that you were WRONG in your prediction and the lad had exceeded expectations. Some kudos were due. Instead, you profer boorish excuses as to why you got it WRONG and continue with the denigration of this under-dog who beat the odds. Shame on both of you !
