Toss up. Morrison just wasn't very good by these standards... and he never won fights easily at this level or a level below. It was always a tightrope walk or desperation situation..
Morrison KO, fairly straightforward match to decipher. Maskaev has the power to knock Morrison out, sure, but he wouldn't be doing so out the gate. Morrison would get to him first with the LH and has the faster hands and better chin (and so might be able to handle a few shots from Maskaev while he is warming up, whereas Tommy's first hook devastates Oleg)
Another vote for Oleg. Good fight. Morrison would have a ton more losses if he faced the opposition Maskaev did. And by the same token, Oleg would have been undefeated quite awhile fighting those 3rd tier guys. I think Oleg weathers a storm better of the 2. No matter who wins, each guy's defense will see him having to weather a storm to win. I'll go with Oleg's right hand sometime after the fifth round when those Morrison reflexes slow down.
Morrison by kayo , he taste the hook and wont come out of it. morrison fast starter ,looks to land early hard and fast. oleg slow starter standing straight up in down no angles gets cliped and lights out.
Morrison never KO'd an elite heavyweight early. Never. In fact, he was the victim of an early KO. I can not be made to believe that something would be different about a match with Maskaev. Despite fond remembrances of things past, not every hook Morrison threw ended with a KO… in fact not nearly as many you might think led to that conclusion. Maskaev by KO in 7.
If Morrison had been matched with the same sort of opponents that Maskaev was thrown to in his first 15-20 fights, he literally would have been remembered as a journeyman.. There would be no part in the Rocky film.. There would be no world title.. And there certainly wouldn't be numerous internet threads decades later which favor the Duke in head to head bouts with real world class fighters.
Morrison, early. The difference in handspeed between the two of them is just huge. Tommy would land first and often, and Maskeav's chin isn't standing up to Morrison's left hook. Morrison KO 3
Someone's going to be KO'd and Oleg KO'd the better fighters... and was himself primarily KO'd by better fighters than Michael Bentt. Oleg KO5
You just can't predict this one.... True 50/50 fight. I think Morrison was a little more skilled overall, and more atheletic but Oleg timed that big right hand extremely well, and once would be more than enough to send Morrison down and out for good.... Actually give Morrison the chin advantage, and recovery too. The more I think about it the more I like his chances, so more of 55/45 with an edge to Morrison :good
Oleg was much more skilled. Im talking about pure fundamentals. Oleg was calm and Morrison looked like a jittery mess. Oleg takes him out in the mid rounds.
Morrison was more explosive and I think he'd connect first. I love the sound of breaking glass, deep in to the night.
