If Juan had been given the decision in fights 1 and 2

    .... how do you think that would have changed the boxing landscape today?

    You think Juan would have done a pacquiao and ducked/drained all the hard fights, blaming it on his promoer?

    Or would have Juan have chased Floyd down the way he had to Pacquiao?

    They would have been questionable decisions ... I can't give him better than a draw in either of the first two fights.

    JMM would never have beaten the fighters Pac has beaten. Cotto, Oscar, Hatton, Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, Bradley ... come on. Head to head Pac is way more dangerous than JMM. Both are ATGs though.

    Pac would still probably have beaten all those guys and it would be the same as before. with people claiming he won the first two fights. There wouldn't have been a third and fourth, I don't think. Pac is the one to give rematches in close fights, not JMM.

    If Cortez had waved off the fight in the first round, how would that have changed the boxing landscape today? Pac then looks invincible save for the Morales "fluke".

    Marquez could have probably beaten the Oscar, Hatton and Margarito that Pac fought. They hardly were at their prime.

    I don't think Pac has ever awaken. Pac has been sleep boxing, unable to KO anybody.

    Incidentally, I scored the first for Pac 113-112, the 2nd for JMM 114-113, and the 3rd I had even at 114 apiece.

    cause of the time difference between 2 n 3

    by the time 3 came around most thought juan was finished

    and by then manny had went on to forge an incredible career

    Interesting. By my reckoning, each decision gets progressively worse. I'm okay with a draw in Pacquiao vs. Marquez I, but think Pacquiao lost II close but clear and III very clearly.

    I think Promoters wouldn't discuss over months whether the fight takes place at 150,151 or 151.5 pounds.

    I know I'm in the minority on the 3rd fight, but I really thought at the time the HBO commentators were unreasonably pro-Pac and that Marquez was doing far better than they indicated, but not quite as well as I was reading most around here had him doing when I returned from where I was watching the fight and tried logging in here.

    Regardless, that rivalry was given an exclamation point on the 4th fight, and JMM will always be the winner of that rivalry as such, despite being officially 1-2-1.

    If Marquez had gotten those first 2 decision, he'd have schooled Pacquiao at anytime and any weight if a 3rd fight would have taken place.

    KTFO6 never happens if Marquez enters the ring knowing he'd get judged fairly.


    Interesting question though. Had Marquez rightfully had gotten those decisions, I dont think Pacquiao would have ever made the weight jumps all the way to 147lbs.
    He'd probably would have jumped to 135 lbs and remained there for a long while. We'd have seen him against Casamayor, Juan Diaz, and Katsidis before Marquez got to them.

    The third installment of Marquez-Pacquiao would have taken place at 135 lbs. I dont think either fighter would have fought past the 140 lbs division.

    Pacquiao getting those gifts positioned him to take his pick of fighters to fight that suited his style.
    Without those Marquez robberies, DLH would have never cherry picked Pacqiuao to fight. DLH would have instead retired or mabye forced to take on Margarito who the boxing fans wanted to see him in against but instead he cherrypicked Pacquiao.

    The boxing landscape today would be a whole lot different for sure as Pacquiao would have never been considered P4P #1 at any point in his career.

    Thats what corruption does to the sport!

    Calling them "gifts" suggests those fights were robberies, which is in no way an accurate depiction of what unfolded as I see it. They were 3 close and competitive match-ups, all of which could reasonably have gone either way.

    The boxing landscape would have been radically different for sure

    Im not quite how, but i appreciate your attempt

    Would have loved to see Manny v great lightweights in Casa, Diaz and Katsidis under proper drug testing. Manny was a great fighter - on their level, but no more, no less

    And if we could have brough Guzman into things - another hell of a fight for Manny

    Diaz was very good, but Casa was the only great fighter of the group but he was allready pass prime well on the downside at the time Pacquiao made his climb to fight David Diaz.

    I think only a prime Casa stood a chance vs either Pac or Marquez, though the matchups would all be competitive enough to be entertaining.
