Robinson by decision, but a Duran win at 147 wouldn't be shocking, just very unlikely.

I pick Robinson by stoppage. I think he could hold center ring against Duran and had the skill to time Duran coming in. People are underestimating Robinson's two handed power here; he could knock you dead with one shot! Robinson had the speed of Leonard and the power of Hearns and I think that's too much for Duran.

As great as Duran was, Robinson at 147 was too much .. it could be by decision or by KO ..

There's some pure ESB gold in here...JG, Burt, Teeto, Dou, Stoney, etc...Good stuff. It was fun to reread...

People say Tyson - Ali would be most exciting fight ever......pound for pound Duran v Robinson tops it!

They both have hands of stone and chins of granite, so it would be a war for however long it lasted. On the outside SRR would have a clear advantage, inside?....well that's where it gets interesting.

Well said, I would choose Robinson for the win. A prime Duran who trains properly is as tough a fight as anyone could get though.

I dunno...When Duran moved up in weight his devastating power at LW didn't really move up with him completely. He was hitting bigger fighters after all. Sure he could still bring some serious hurt at WW but gone were the breathtaking KO's he enjoyed as a lightweight. Robinson on the other hand could blow a guy out of the water at WW. His power was there. If anyone's getting KO'ed in this fight it sure as hell isn't Robinson which leaves Duran only one other option, that is outboxing Ray and I don't see that either. What I do see is a very competitive fight for the 1st 9 or 10 rounds but then Robinson beginning to get the better of Duran, wearing him down with his proven power as a WW en route to a decision or possibly late round stoppage. Duran is an ATG without question but a prime Robinson is on another level. He was the complete package. Now I'm gonna run for cover.

no running necessary cause I think the majority pretty much see it as you do. That said, I think Duran showed plenty of power in the higher weight divisions. Exhibit A would be Moore, Exhibit B would be Barkley. but the way I see it, on the outside SRR would outbox Duran because of his size and longer reach, and if he sticks to that game plan he wins a decision. But if he tries to fight Duran on the inside, that's a very dangerous strategy. Because if nothing else Duran is one of the very best at close quarters. So the bottom line is that it's SRR's fight to loose.

    Would be a great fight.

The obvious matchup would come at 147 lbs. Robinson metes out a clear but competitive decision. He would n't have got suckered into fighting Duran's fight like Sugar Ray Leonard did.

Robinson would be too much of everything for Duran. Robinson wins every round decisively before KO inside of 10.
