What makes you think that he is too old all of a sudden? I was shitting myself before the Lacey fight thinking that Joe's reign would come to an end. This fight will be the same this, Kessler is a monster...no 2 ways about it, but Joe will be up for it and MK won't know whats hit him.
I see this as a 50-50 fight. Both fighters have great skills, great speed and these two fighters are a lewel above the 3rd in supermiddleweight. Kessler 116-112.
From what I've seen of JC he's way too open when he attacks. It's a mystery that he hasn't been KO'd yet. I'm going for Kessler inside 8. Unless JC's chin is made of wood. Then it'll be a close but unanimous decision for JC.
All four will be laughing on the way to the bank. No matter who wins the fight - Kessler is the future, but Calzaghe has been a good champ, and maybe the best ever at 168. I wanna thank all Calzaghe supporters thus far for taking part in numberous discussions, and of course my fellow danes for keeping it clean, and with sound argumentations. Lets hope there will be a re-match, so we can go for another round or two.
Calzaghe will almost certainly outbox Kessler and win a wide UD. Joe is a major step up in competition for him, and his superior boxing skills will be the difference in this fight. The only thing that makes the outcome at all debatable is Calzaghe's age. IF he "gets old overnight" he could lose. Don't think it will happen though - I think we're looking at a another Lacy situation, except that this one might even end in late TKO.
The fight is a major step up for both, and I hate to disagree with you, but JC does not have superior boxing skills over Kessler. Calzaghe is a fighter, Kessler is a boxer. Thats at least how I view it. Anyhow, there is no way that this will be another Lacy situation - that is just wishful thinking for the JC camp. Lacy and Kessler are not comparable in a million years. I think the only thing they have in common is that they are both boxers. Kessler would knock Lacy in the dirt, unless the latter evolves immensely.
Kessler is a very real chance of winning. He has fought the better competition recently, and has dominated totally. He has only had something like 4 fights less then Joe, experience wont be a huge factor. Kessler has lost only something like 3 rounds in his entire 39 pro fights. That's pretty amazing. Joe has lost many, many more rounds. The flipside of this is that Kessler lost those rounds to someone with great speed - which may mean that Joe is exactly the right type of fighter to beat him. If I was foreced to bet my life on one or the other fighter, I would probably back Joe. But I sure as hell wont be putting any money on him to win.
Don't worry - once I can get 3.00 on Kessler to win - I am putting $900 on Kessler to win. I knew 2.20 was too good to pass up.
Well, you can get 2.75 for Kessler now - and that is more than enough for me to make a good surplus whatever happens. Win-win.
