ES meatwagon was 32 yrs ago, and I learned not to go on any more of those trips. You on the other hand are still whining and crying about the evil promoters and snakes. if don't know by now how to protect yourself you must one dumb ex pug. Where are your world class representation and your world champion friends, now????????????????
Look go troll somewhere else you are way too dumb and jaded, to learn anything and if you haven't learned in all this time, as you stated "before you were born", and with your world class representation and your world champion friends then . You as the hero of the stupid must understand that what happened to you happened, what before Jasper and peleador were born, so lets say 20 plus years ago, times have changed. Even in your warped thinking, that meatwagon episode cant happen again in the US now if you're talking about the UK and Europe IDK.
Watch out for the snakes and evil promoters they are out to get you lol. Paranoia strikes deep maybe Harry Spitzer can advise you from beyond, trolling, trolling, trolling. From now on go babble under the bridge and tell people about the snakes.

You people are fools, paint whatever pretty picture of the business as you'd like to for the other people.

With your being educated, please do share how you protect yourself without the proper management. How are you going to get the fights that you need to properly grow.

I see the sky and tell you that it is blue, you guys shoot back that I'm just a loser (as if you'd know) and that the sky is green.

You guys spout a lot of opinions for knowing next to nothing about the subject. That generally equals ignorance.

:happyBravo. When Jasper hits ****rty and Dempsey ever had a bout of his own maybe we'll talk again, hopefully not.

Your misrepresentation of the business is just that, misrepresentation.

And the Meat Wagon probably still gets more miles than you each year.

The boxing world is but a spot of tea on sunday afternoon.:good

You win then, promoters will look out for the fighters well being while completely disregarding their own.:thumbsup

as for hijacking a thread, LOL........ a one thread a day forum, you need this site hijacked. It'd probably be better off.

Guys don't respond to his stuff ignore him, you have to pity the jaded faded ex pug who "fought" 20 - 30 ago. If he got screwed learn the lesson he never learned, learn to protect yourselves by educating yourself. The broken down pug is still looking for snakes 20-30 years later.
If you empower a jerk to be a jerk he becomes a bigger jerk. Look at his posts as I do comic relief, this line is funny ya cant make this stuff up, "The boxing world is but a spot of tea on sunday afternoon."
    Lol, me brudder, haha.

I just came across this thread and I haven't read it so perhaps it's been answered. But I'm an accountant and a financial advisor by profession, and what I would like to see is part of each purse, say between 5-10% minimum go into an annuity to which would give the boxer some kind of pension later in life. Not sure if disability insurance would be an option but it wouldn't break my heart if promotes were required to allocate a certain percentage of their revenues towards paying this as well. But since disability premiums are an ongoing purchase and may not be offered given the nature of the business, the annuity option has more appeal to me. Can you enlighten me as to whether this happens, or is being considered.

The IBF has this in place, for anybody fighting for the title, I believe they ask for 5%. Maybe that would be the place to start ck out their website. http://www.ibfusbaregistration.com/ibfusba_02APR2014/

There has been talk but nothing definite maybe you can start the ball rolling again.

.demps,in your many years of managing and being in boxing.have you ever come across a fighter that broke his arm.?(in or outside the gym?)...is that a potential career stopper?...i broke my left arm, close to my hand 2 days ago.:-(.(in three areas)...docs have contradicting answers-does that mean that arm is ALWAYS gona be weaker?..(even if the bones fused the proper way)..id hate to have that in the back of my mind, not letting me go all out in training...i know its not your area of expertise ..but maybe you went through this with one of your guys...thnks ! (...lets all bring this site back to how it was..,great learning ! and great info!)..thnks Dempsey or anyone outthere that knows the answer)..:bbb

I broke my forearm when I was 22, had a plate in it for 18 months. I haven't had problems beyond some pain when the weather is cold, and that is rare. I worked construction, hit the heavy bag every day, and, later, caught 20 and more rounds a day on the mitts with no problems.

That was my experience but I'm not qualified medically.
