Didn't HBO measure Tyson just before he won the title and declared that he was 5'11 1/2 as was claimed?
If you google his height he's listed at 6'3" or 1.91meters. I'd say that's about right because I remember watching him as a kid and he would always be pulling the head of his opponent down. He was able to do this because he was taller than most of his opponents. I recently watched him and Weper fight and I know Wepner was taller, he's listed as 6'5". Foreman is listed at 6'3" the same as Ali. Again that strikes me as being pretty accurate. That said Dundee said Ali was 6'2" Maybe he was between 6'2" and 6'3"
Muhammad Ali - 6' 3 ½'' Jack Johnson - 6' 1'' Jack Dempsey - 6' 0 ½'' Joe Frazier - 5' 11 ½'' Rocky Marciano - 5' 10 ½'' Mike Tyson - 5' 10''
I've read somewhere a guy claimed they used to measure Tyson's height in the gym in his prime years late 80's and he was always bang on 5'10 1/2. Now i can't find the quote... Sound familiar to any of you?
The quote: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showpost.php?p=982252&postcount=34 As for Ali: http://www.quixote.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/3-Passport-Photos-of-Iconic-Figures-600x486.jpg
No, it is false, look at his passport: http://www.quixote.com/wp-content/up...es-600x486.jpg
He was 10' tall! He didn't look much shorter than Ernie Terrell who was listed at 6'6". We're talking about a prime full grown Ali, not a shriveled up old man.
For what its worth - Actor Clint Eastwood was listed as 6' 4" when he was younger Here is Clint and Ali standing together at a punchback during an interview If Clint was 6'4" - Then Ali is surely 6'2" Actually Ali says he is 6'2" in the interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkQlG0l5XJw
Yes, i think his passport 6'2 1/2 is accurate. If someone ask me how old i am i answer straight away. If you ask a child, he or she might say 8 years and a half instead of just 8 for example.
Ali and Angelo Dundee said that he was 6'2 and most list him at 6'3, Terrel was 6'5 thing with boxing is they always add an inch unless your short then they tend to exaggerate the other way ...I have seen the Klitschko's listed as high as 6'9 for Vitali and 6'7 for Vlad but this is a couple of inches off respectfully
From what I've seen, 6'2 1/2" to 6'3" is about right. He was definitely smaller than Foreman, and looked to be about equal to bigger than Ron Lyle and Ken Norton.
