This is the dark side of boxing so many don't want to publicize. What are boxers going to do when their career is over , and they don't know any other trade ? What happens to them if they don't own property ?
Because most managers or promoters know how to handle money and are educated fighters don't know how to handle money i think there needs to be a some sort of education given to fighters early when they start boxing about handling money.
I read an article few years back that Williams was actually financially well of and was fighting because he is addicted to boxing. It claimed he invested his money well or setup a trust fund to receive a steady good income. there also might be an interview on youtube of him saying this in like 2010 don't quite remember/ too lazy to look it up. I doubt these "fights" pay a lot of money. i read Oliver McCall was getting paid something like 1500 per fight at clubs or something. Also I find a little strange a former athlete with relatively high profile could not find an occupation of at least a decent level of income.
I'd send my children to public schools even if I was millionaire there's really no big difference in the quality of education and they'd be safe from religious **** heck, at least in public school i can be sure they're not gonna try to teach them ¨intelligent design¨
It makes my blood boil to see people who have never set foot in a boxing ring try to ridicule a man like Danny Williams I have never seen such courage & determination shown by a fighter as Danny showed in a fight. He was fighting totally one armed & taking a beating & fighting back like a real man. Suddenly he explodes a shot on his opponents jaw & smashes him out with one hand That was sheer guts and courage which I applaud. If only some of the prima donnas today, you know who I mean, had one tenth of his courage. Danny may not have been the most talented but he sure had cojones of steel Kudos to him for trying to give his daughters a great start in life. I hope his plans work out and he doesn't have to fight again
Actually all athletes are generally in trouble after retiring Espns broke was a great documentary on how quickly these guys lose it all
The private schools in your area must be terrible then because the recent league tables in my town showed that private schools were far superior. The 2 best public schools had an exam pass rate of 60-62% while the top 2 private schools had a 99% and 100% pass rate. There is a reason why parents are willing to spend thousands of pounds every term for private schooling. So I can understand why Williams is humiliating himself to ensure his kids get a better education.
what about people who can't even box? If danny williams chooses to live beyond his means it is not a dark side, or even sad, it is his own fault, exactly the same as if i do it (except no one will give a **** if i die in the gutter).
