    Froch is ridiculously overrated recently.
I agree he faced the best in the division, but not lately he hasn't. His last two fight were against Groves, whose own rating seems to be based entirely on the fact that Froch struggled so badly against him.
And still Groves has hardly proved himself a level above Degale either. In fact, he barely got past him and hasn't ever beat a top-level fighter.

I think calling Froch "ATG" is a bit of a stretch.
And, no, champions don't earn the right to avoid and lay off because they are "pondering retirement". You either retire or you don't. For the contenders coming up in the ranks, it's unfair.
And to be fair to Froch he vacated for that reason, I believe. :good

Well Froch just plodded forward throwing spastic punches at thin air. Hardly an epic example of championship quality.

Both of them deserved to lose.

so many froch haters on here lately its pathetic !!! He is a legend and look at his CV over the last few years its incredible. Ducking Degale lol I'm a chunky fan but he aint in Carl's league. When the going gets tough in the 11th round degale will go missing and will be cobra'ed

Froch is never an ATG. He can make it into the HOF though

He fought some good fighters and beat most of them. He broke some big reputations (Bute for example) and managed to boost anothers (Groves).

And I think every can see that he was a clear second-best against Andre Ward, and overall he's 1-1 and about on a par with Kessler. So, not even the best in the division at any time, certainly not the man of the era.

    I think "legend" is a stretch. I mean, Sugar Ray Robinson's a legend, Muhammad Ali's a legend, Roberto Duran's a legend .... Carl Froch ? Nah.

prime kessler outpoints prime froch i reckon, but the operative word in your andre ward sentence is was. the last couple of years, froch has been the best man in the division. agree legend is a bit of a stretch, though.

He knocked Taylor out you know. 12 round prize fight. He won, get it over it.

Khan has been knocked out cold twice and couldn't handle Lamont Peterson.

depends how we define legend, its an overused word. But I'd say he is up there with the best from these shores certainly. Been in some great fights and his CV is fairly impressive. Yes Ward is a better boxer, but he hardly fights so how can he be the best. His last meaningful fight was in 2012

Froch has chased fights for legacy hence the resume Khan is looking to take fights for money, like it not that's why Khan is still fighting, he knows PAC or mayweather will bring him over 10mill and he can retire with that

Nobody with half a brain described Froch as a legend, then again you should research the names you listed, all were beaten by Nobodies at some stage during their careers.

Opinion is very/ultimately subjective, having nosed a few of your posts regarding Froch, i'd say you're opinionated rather than subjective.

Yes, I acknowledge that Froch is a worthy champion with a good resume and a warrior's attitude.

I just think he's being overrated when people talk as if he's some epic ATG who has earned the right to take it easy.
As I point out, his last two fights were against Groves who Froch himself said had not earned his right to share a ring with him (possibly an exaggeration on Carl's part, but true that Groves credentials are thin) .... it was the Froch fights that made Groves look good !

Arguably, Froch has unfinished business with Andre Direll too, a very close and disputed decision.

Point is, it's not as if Froch cleaned up the division.
In fact, people are even stating it here that he's rated the man in the division to a large extent by default because Andre Ward's become inactive.

Yes, give Froch the credit he deserves for things he's done in past years but I think people are going over the top calling him an ATG and a legend and saying he can take it easy now.
Froch should fight the best available fighter or two in 2015, just like every champion should, no excuses. If he no longer wants or needs to prove himself, yes he can retire. :good

Froch is 37 closing in on his career, why is he going to waste a training camp that he isn't going to be bothered about to fight a mediocre overhyped bum in Degale?

That pak Sharia Khan is younger and is ducking all the best fighters, so he can get a big pay day.

Khan has never avenged any of defeats, hasn't fought the best at 140 and is fighting guys past their prime at 147 and claiming they're great victories

Froch has a far better resume than khan will ever have and conducts himself admirably.
