Stevens has always been just a journeyman with a punch. Hes not very good at all. Rosado is C level. Proska was decent at the time but euro level. Macklin is fringe world level and was a good win especially in the fashion he did it. Geale is very good and his best win. Rest are bums
GGG has a respectable resume. He is having a hard time getting big fights but he clearly wants them. What bugs me is that people are acting like this is the first time the best guy in the division has been avoided. There are many examples in the middleweight division alone. It has nothing to do with where he comes from or what he looks like. This is just the reality of this very poorly run sport of ours.
golovkin has said publicly he wants to fight 3 times a year so it wont take too long before he cleans house at MW and moves up . and once he starts knocking out the best of the super MWs then this forum might give him the credit he deserves . the kid is a monster and will fight anybody !!
The fact GGG hasn't had a legitimate shot at the recognized lineal MW title is a joke. As far as I am concerned, GGG is the champion of 160 pounds. Nobody has claim to being "Middleweight Champion" without a win over GGG. Just IMO. And yes, Cotto won't go anywhere near him.
IF and it is a big if GGG has an Iron Chin he is going to be very hard to beat at 160 or 168. The haters will just have to deal with it because the only way at this point that he could be a 'fraud' or not for real is if he has a Glass Jaw. The haters are just going to have to accept it if his Chin proves to be solid.
Not likely based on what we hear about his sparring sessions. I heard he's never been dropped in sparring! :bbb In fact, I don't believe he's hit the canvas in his amateur career either. (says the rumor mill) GGG is dangerous. Anybody who can't see that isn't a very good judge of boxing talent. His footwork is deceptively good. Very subtle. Sets up his power shots nicely.
Only two guys in the divison above really, one has been inactive for three years and other said he doesn't want to fight him. Super Middle is a wasteland. MW is actually the deeper divison with fresher talent, they just won't fight him.
Yeah. Combination of: Proksa losing to a domestic level guy, Lemieux foolishly exhausting himself vs Rubio, Pirog being wiped off the MW map via back injury, Martinez severely declining due to injuries, Soliman/Taylor holding a fukkin title and Korobov not living up to the hype from his time in the ams. Compound all the negatives from that and see how Golovkin, Quillin, Geale, N'Dam, Murray, Sturm and Jacobs now constitute a 'weak' division.
I'd be interested to see if actually offered terms whether or not Ward would actually take the fight.
