I don't mean this necessarily for how good he is but for a couple of reasons - 1. He provides that headline act in the midlands which allows him to gradually develop the Yafais & Eggington in headliners themselves 2. I can't imagine Frankie being that expensive in regards to purses compared to his other contenders (bellew, previously brook etc) 3. He knows he can put Frankie in a tough fight against decent opposition and its win-win.. Frankie Wins and beats them he becomes an opponent for Brook in a PPV - & if Frankie loses the opponent is automatically a relevant fight for Brook
Not a huge fan of Gavin but I do agree for matchroom he is a good signing for the reasons mentioned, especially being able to build other fighters from the midlands area
I noted he is going for the IBF Ranking. Presumably he is being lined up as a plan B opponent for Brook
He has a boring style, His crowd are a bunch of hooligans, and is on the decline. Not really a great signing.
Got beaten by Skeete imo and has found his level, its a shame really because I use to seriously rate him and thought he had the best boxing iq of all British fighters.
for the reasons the OP gave, he is a good signing, I think even Eddie realised Gavin will never be world title material
No personality. Boring in the ring (skilful but boring). Beaten by Bundu and I had him losing the Skeete fight by a point. This Birmingham malarkey will help the likes of the Yafais and Eggington more than Gavin long term.
War Van Heerden, hope he wins to stop me having to watch the boring clinch obsessed, feather fisted Gavin again.
he thinks he's better then he actually is, all this nonsense of him being beyond domestic level after barely s****ing by bradley skeete. Guys like joseito lopez and jesus soto karass would beat gavin.
True, but it is sad if Gavin can't see that he's there to pave the way for the other Brummie fighters.
