Pacman's route to Victory...

Two keys for Pacquiao in this fight IMO: footwork and footspeed. He needs to match Floyd's footspeed, and he needs to shuffle his feet quick enough to attack from multiple angles. Also, his right hand is key. He needs to use it to set up his left hand, even if it's just through feints. Otherwise Floyd will just potshot and land with that right all night long.

 

If he can keep Floyd turning that would be good for him. Of course Floyd can pivot and hook with the best of them so here's what I would do if I were team pac:

Floyd adjusts quickly and well to his opponents tactics. So maybe the thing to do is have a plan where pac adjusts his attack after 3 some odd rounds so Floyd has to reset and adapt again. It doesn't even need to be a huge change just something that would give Pac a different look so Floyd can't get into a comfortable rhythm dictating the tempo and where the fight is fought.

* if in center of ring, use lateral movement. Get in, land, then get OUT. Use angles.

Pacquiao has to use the awkward angles and feints in this fight to keep Floyd thinking and from timing him. He must also adjust to Floyd each time Floyd adjusts to him. Also, he needs to come out guns blazing. He has to overwhelm Floyd with his activity. I think the aggression level from Marquez 4 is perfect. Just pull back on the carelessness and overconfidence from that fight.

 

Pacquiao's stamina is great, even today. He still averages significantly more amount of punches rds 7-12 than rds 1-6. He continues to increase his work rate and punch output the longer the fight goes on. Usually his best work has been later rounds.

 

He needs to come in like a feinting machine like he did against Marquez: IV.

 

Pacquaio also has to counter that right hand. His ability to counter Floyd's right hand will be critical to his success.

When he has Floyd against the ropes, he has to step back, change angles, and throw combinations.

Pacquaio's counterpunching will surprise people. Both in his ability to counter Floyd's right hand and his jab.

 

Mayweather will feel Manny out for a bit and feint him. Get his rhythm of coming in and out for timing. Tie up his right hand with your left due to the southpaw stance, look for that straight right down the pipe when Manny tries to "hop step" inside. Step in and smother when necessary and dig to Pac's body on the inside and clinch. Pac can get lazy with that right jab of his and "flick it," so I expect Floyd to look to hook off that jab and throw in some check hooks as well as Pac lunges in, either off that lazy jab, or a feint.

Just look to avoid that left hand, reset when necessary, and keep feinting and keep thinking. Pacquiao will over-react to feints, either via shelling up or coming in with a flurry, leaving himself out of position. It's one of his biggest flaws. Typically Pacquiao's speed allows him to get away with this, and that will not be the case with Floyd.

Mayweather by mid fight will have Pacquiao tentative because of feints, and when he does decide to flurry, Mayweather will force him to over extend out of position, to land solid counters. It will be a Mayweather style fight, and I don't see Pacquiao throwing more than roughly 550 punches total for the fight.

This doesn't mean Pacquiao won't have his opportunities, and will surely land some punches. But I don't think the consistency will be there, as the longer and stronger Mayweather will control range, and in the clinch Pacquiao has no hope in my eyes. I honestly have yet to think of a single scenario where Mayweather doesn't do whatever he wants with Pacquiao in the clinch. It's going to wear the Pacman down mentally and physically. By the championship rounds, Manny will be looking for the miracle shot and will be a beaten man. Just IMO.

Pacquaio being the man he is, will look to push the fight and be impatient. Manny will run into shots. That will be his undoing.

I predict Mayweather wins a UD, 8-4 or 9-3, and possibly stops Pac late due to stoppage or cuts. I don't believe he would KO Pac, it would be a TKO if it happened. But I'm conservative with my picks, and neither man has knocked out anybody in quite some time. Floyd by UD.

I think this breaks things down nicely for people. Expect to see a lot of this going on, but Mayweather is a bigger, better, more athletic version of Marquez who will capitalize on Manny's mistakes quite a bit. Just IMO. Mayweather will come out looking to land the right hand, and like multiple other southpaw opponents, including Guerrero, Pacquaio will counter Floyd's right hand.

Pacquaio will use the left uppercut to counter when Floyd throw a right hand, rear foot elevated, rotation, just like Guerrero did.

Pacquaio will also counter Floyd's jab with a left straight, as well as using a double jab straight left hand which will sometimes land and sometimes back Floyd up.

Floyd is a defense first style of fighter, so Pac will see Floyd covering up and step to the side at an angle and throw combinations.

He'll throw a lot of single handed combination shots that he uses to catch his opponent at awkward angles that they don't expect.

Floyd will land the right hand at times, but not nearly as much as people think.

Pac KNOWS about Floyd's right hand. Floyd will end up having to drop his hand to land it because Pacquaio will be adept at ducking it.

Floyd missed Guerrero a hell of a lot initially with that right hand. He had to completely change his game plan and back up away from Guerrero, who managed to miss often by mere inches.

He also landed a lot more than I expected him to.

Even Ortiz managed to put Floyd in compromising positions. That was an interesting fight. Too bad it ended like it did, almost as if it was a pay off, set up.

Why else did Floyd whisper something in Ortiz' ear.

Anyway, I won't speculate on that, because the fact remains. Floyd is vulnerable to southpaws, and Manny's speed, explosiveness and angles will be the difference in this fight.

Floyd knows this. He didn't want to fight Pacquaio. To beat Pacquaio, Floyd will have to make this a war, similar to how he did against Corley.

He won't win a war against Pacquaio. The best he can hope to do is catch Pacquaio off balance with a right hand when Pacquaio is coming out of a pivot, just before he resets.

 

Pac needs to write some big a$$ words on his gloves to confuse the sh*t out of Mayweather.

In and out, in and out , speed, and angles. Never stay on the inside so mayweather can hold excessively, forearm to the face, or pull behind the head. We cant expect the ref to follow the rules unless it's jack Reiss. The only ref we can trust.

 

Pac wasn't big enough to apply pressure to any fighter over 135. But he does. He doesn't apply pressure with force. He come in at awkward angles unloads then moves out. He doesn't need to muscle people around.

 

Fight his normal fight. Work-rate is key.

 

Pac is 10 times the fighter maidana is,I think floyd will step up a level aswell tho.i think floyd will actually fight more aggressive and try to lead more if he can,this will be more of a fight than ppl think

 

If Pac fought with the same mindset as when he first fought Barrera, he will win.
