The WBA Championships Committee has ordered Ruslan Chagaev and Lucas Browne to begin negotiations for their mandatory fight. If no agreement is reached within 30 days, the fight will go to purse bid. Chagaev has held the WBA “regular” world championship belt since July 6 when he defeated Fres Oquendo. Browne, the highest rated available contender, is 22-0, 19 KOs, while the champion has a record of 33-2-1, 20 KOs.

This will be a tough test for Browne, Chagaev is a better boxer, Browne's best chance would be to knock him out. It will be interesting to see where the fight takes place.

Tough fight for Browne. But if is going to progress that's what he's in for. I'm glad the Scott fight didn't get made because Scott's style would not have suited Browne and there is a far bigger reward attached to this fight.

I don't think Browne can win this.

Chagaev is more past prime than a zombie.

Hope hes been working on conditioning. Chagaev has always had a great chin and cant
see Lucas' power being a factor here. He'll need to control the Distance using his physical attributes and be prepared for a long grueling night. If its in Russia I'd be extra nervous. Just hope he doesnt go in with nervous tension only looking for the big one all night cause a vet like chagaev will negate all that and find a way to wind him down with his experience. Winnable but not a given. Cheers

Even a zombie Chagaev is better than Browne, just a massive gulf in skill level. Chagaev will sleepwalk his way to a UD, like he has done with low quality opponents many times

Browne is an unspectacular fighter with a disturbing habit of getting the job done. This will be his hardest test to date whether Chagaev comes in cherry ripe or otherwise.

Is this Browne kid any good or is he just another bum with a padded record ?
