arum has never claimed haymon to be an obstacle in this fight. haymon tried to convince floyd to take the 24 day cutoff, he agreed through greenburg for this fight in the 2nd negotiation.

again, he's taking 26.75%, why wouldn't he make the fight.

You do realize you can't force somebody into a legally binding contract right? Coercion makes the contract null/void in a court of law. Just FYI.

Can we stop pretending they had to hold a gun to Floyd's head to sign a contract that makes him $120 million? It's beyond ridiculous. He's getting paid an obscene amount of money. THAT is why he signed.

So far Pac**** Nation has broke it down like this:

"Floyd is too scared to fight Pacquiao."
    Fight is signed.
"Floyd was forced to sign the contract."
    More time passes.
"Floyd only signed it because Pac is shot."
When Pacquiao loses I expect something like the following.
"Floyd only signed because he knew he would win." :patsch

Seriously... you guys need to just stop. You look more re****ed by the minute.

Well keep pretending that someone else had a hand in this ..This fight was made because Floyd was forced into a corner and Moonves didn't want to lose anymore money with sub par fights !

He made an obscene amount of money in his last couple of fights the diffrence is the execs got tired of paying for ****ty cards and wanted a return on their investment !Thats why it was signed not for any other reason !mHad he not stepped in we would be getting a reamtch with Cotto !

AL has done an amazing job taking boxing to a bigger platform but Floyd is the one who deserves credit for getting the fight between him and Manny done. AL had nothing to do with that......when Floyd was ready the fight got made, period. It was always up to Floyd as everyone was on board who needed to be on board.......Everyone expect for the other most important person in the equation which was Floyd himself. But AL is soley responsible for bringing boxing back to prime time television which is probably bigger than the Floyd vs Manny fight when looking at the big picture.

Les Moonves (the President and CEO of CBS Corp.) was the driver behind this. That's clear.

Les Moonves was the guy who agreed to the Showtime deal with Mayweather. (Showtime is a division within CBS Corp.). Clearly, one stipulation of paying Mayweather all this money was that he'd fight Pacquiao at some point.

Clearly, one of the stipulations of CBS giving Haymon the boxing exposure on CBS network television was that they'd make the Pacquiao fight.

There are only two fights left on the Mayweather deal. Moonves wanted Mayweather-Pacquiao now so, if there's a rematch, he can reap the benefits of that as well.

If Mayweather opted not to fight Pacquiao, there's a good chance we'd have seen CBS/Showtime bring a suit against Mayweather and Haymon and end the relationship.

They didn't pay Mayweather all this money to fight the likes of Guerrero and Maidana if they weren't going to get the Pacquiao fight.

Haymon would've been off Showtime and had no fights on CBS, and Mayweather wouldn't have been fighting on Showtime PPV against anyone this year if they'd screwed Moonves.

Moonves is happy to sign big deals, but he expects results. Aside for the Canelo fight, Mayweather's fights have basically tanked (meaning Mayweather got his guarantee but the network didn't make the profits it expected). This next fight with Pacquiao will make it all "right" with CBS/Showtime. If they have a rematch, the relationship will be seen as a success.

The fight's made. That's all that matters.

But don't kid yourself that the decision was Haymon's or Mayweather's. If they decided NOT to make the Pacquiao fight, Mayweather and Haymon would've been in court the rest of their lives and neither would've been able to even subscribe to Showtime. (LOL)

So, it was up to Haymon and Mayweather whether Floyd faced Pacquiao ... but not really.

^slightly off topic, but are you the same dubblechin from the old boxing press site? that name takes me back heh. any way on topic I do agree that haymon was an essential though not sufficient reason for the fight occurring. if what I understand from haymons contracts with other fighters also applies to Floyd, then haymon has to sign off on any deal that Floyd makes(fairly oppressive terms Imo).

I also feel that les played a critical , though perhaps not sufficient role(two fighters still have to sign the contract, along with the two networks, which they thankfully did).
