What is the realistic chance that we will see a Mayweather - Pacquiao rematch.

There are very few scenarios of the fight which seem to lead to a potential rematch.

If Mayweather wins the fight he's going to want a bigger fraction the next purse; possibly +70%, which I can't see Pacquiao aggreeing too. Additionally, if the fight really is close I can see Mayweather taking a much easier fight for his last guaranteed $32 million.

If Pacquiao wins it doesn't seem unlikely that the would demand +50% and consider himself the A - Side, especially after the emphasis Floyd made in this side about being the A-side.

The only likely scenario under which we'll see a rematch is if the fight ends in a draw and both fighters are happy to agree to a 5050 split.

Am I being overly cynical here?

p.s. don't get me wrong, I'm delighted nonetheless that we even get to see the fight.

Ive thought we'd get another regardless of the outcome. Just too much money involved

If flyod wins a landslide fight he will give him a rematch , if he wins a close one - no way.
I think Manny gives him one if he wins regardless of the fight difficulty

He gave Madonna a rematch despite the closeness, and even more so with Jose Luis (though granted back then he wasnt the coward he later morphed into)

I see the future purse split as the main obstacle to a rematch.

Sure he gave Maidana a rematch after a tough fight. He did however get approx. 90% of the purse...

nope. once Pacquiao decimates Mayweather, he won't ask for a rematch.

If the fight turns out to be competitive with a controversial result, then sure we will. If not, then obviously not.

I have a feeling that Pacquiao turned down Mayweather's demand for a rematch clause because he wants to dictate the terms for the rematch if he wins this one.

I think if pacquiao does indeed decimate mayweather he will DEMAND a rematch. He will no longer have his 0 to protect and would want a chance to avenge the defeat.

We'll definitely see a rematch if Floyd loses or if the outcome can be disputed at all(SD, questionable/premature stoppage, etc). I still don't believe that Floyd would lose the fight(on purpose) just to milk a rematch though.

    Too much money not too.

There will be some conteversy where one party will feel aggrieved and the public will demand a rematch.

On one hand Im like it took so long to get one, when its over and the dust settles the winner might just take the credit and the money and go

on the other I'm thinking,, well its so much damn money to walk from, especially if fight one has major controversy. Manny has rematched several guys. Floyd rematched his two closest fights and was going to rematch Oscar I think if my memory serves me correct

The last big fight that took forever to be made was Leonard Hagler and there was no rematch and there was big dollars and big controversy

tough pick. lets wait til the first fight actually occurs...injuries or Floyds day of the fight wining about gloves or something can always ruin this one

No. No need for one. Their styles will show one clear winner.
