I haven't been through this whole thread, so pardon me if this has been discussed already. I expected to see a lot of Ali and Louis, but I'm surprised there are so many votes for Tyson. That wouldn't surprise me coming from the general public, but it does in this forum. 'Course there are obvious choices missing - Dempsey, Foreman, Frazier, maybe Jeffries.
With respect I believe Tyson has less than no chance. The only guy I'd pick to beat Ali is Lewis. However I say Ali is the greatest Heavy ever simply because the guy had to re invent himself when he came back MINUS his supreme mobility, agility and blinding ( for a Heavyweight ) speed of both hand and foot.
The reason there are possibly so many votes for Tyson is that he arguably performed just as good as Ali did at their peaks against maybe slightly better opposition.
The title says peak, most people will agree Tysons peak was 2 years prior to the Douglas fight. Even then, id say Tysons pre prison opposition was probably slightly better than Alis pre exile opposition.
