The biggest sticking point for Quigg-Frampton is whether it goes to ITV or Sky. If Sky, very likely to be box office and would do very well numbers wise. McGuigan talking ****e in the post fight presser " Eddie is all about the money" well he's supposed to be you pleb. As are you. Far too emotionally involved. His job is to earn his fighter as much money as possible. And PPV earnings far exceed flat fee off ITV for both boxers. Hearn is right on this one.
Quigg-Frampton is a very hard fight to call. I think Frampton edges it. Hopefully Hearn can get the fight made for the summer. I can see some issues arising in the negotiations over the venue and whose name will be first for the billing.
For what it's worth I think the hype won't justify what happens on the night. Won't even be that competitive. Frampton win, sure of it.
I agree. Frampton is definitely the bigger draw, even if the fight is held in England. But say what you like about Hearn, he does well by his fighters. I just really hope the fight can get done. It's a genuinely interesting match-up.
If this fight happens anywhere in England (esp in London or Manchester) at least 80% of the fans will be Irish backing frampton, and whilst I've always praised Hearn for doing well for his fighters (getting rose a world title shot and Paul smith two when both guys are around euro level) he needs to get real as this is one of the few times in domestic fights where he is to effect the junior partner For what it was worth, was at the liverpool match earlier, quite a few were speaking about the frampton fight, so hopefully itv keep this up
I dont think it would be far off a 50/50 split crowd in Manchester tbh...there is no question who has the better following but you're mistaken if you think only 3000 odds mancs would buy tickets to a huge showdown like that.
I also think Quigg-Frampton is a lot closer than others are suggesting. I'd maybe pick Frampton...JUST. I also don't think he's near Rigo either. He got a flash knock down in his last fight (the second was a push)...other than that he won every second of the fight
At least 80% of those who are a fan of either guy will be frampton fan, loads will be there for the event as opposed to the individual fighter
belts mean nothing these days its who you have beaten that should count. Frampton Quigg is a 50/50 and should happen before either fights rigo or Santa Cruz
For all the talk of how poor Avalos was - #1 Carl still put in a fantastic performance and #2 That fight was mandated and Carl was obligated to take that fight, unlike Quigg who likes to pick fights with career Bantams. I don't believe for a second that Carl would have any issue travelling for a fight with Quigg if he had to. He would take 1000's over to Manchester (or wherever) for that fight. Carl beats Quigg every day of the week. This is the same guy who fights smaller guys and got dropped by Jamie Arthur....
Sensible man. Well said about Rigo. Far too much was/is being read into Rigo getting knocked down. He OVERWHELMINGLY won that fight - against a guy that looked about welterweight-sized! Reports of his demise are greatly exaggerated. :bbb
Could have chased a unification fight but didn't... Barry has a cash cow and won't dare put him in with the big boys.
