If Froch was to flight GGG...

Fast Car should be encouraging Froch to retire if he gave a **** about him. Hasn't he taken enough headshots by now? He's kept his money. What's the point now? He's past it, would be nice to see him fight Chavez or Hopkins or Ward in fun fights as none of them are going to damage him but GGG could make a mess of the old man. Really hope it never happens.

 

Would it diminish froch's legacy or enhance golovkins? Think it's more the latter for me.....froch has had a great career, one that lets face it when he was operating at domestic level not many of us would have suggested he would have.

I think froch would stand a good chance here. Froch is a different level to anyone golovkin has fought to date. I like golovkin, he's exciting to watch but this is a tough challenge for even him. There are only a handful of fighters who beat him at the moment though for me and that's Mayweather, canelo and possibly froch if he goes up in weight. He's beat everyone at middle, I suppose he's going to move about in weight to get the big fights.

 

How many times has Froch been written off ?

I cannot believe people are still suggesting that he's LUCKY !

It's easy with the benefit of hindsight to undermine the wins over Bute and Groves, but lets look at the facts....

A large percentage thought that Groves was going to beat Froch and then move onto bigger things.
Bute was considered the biggest challenge in the SMW division this side of Oakland, fcuk me fans, the press and the experts were predicting Froch would be beaten handily and that his brain and liver might never recover from the beating Bute would put on them. There were many who also thought Bute had Wards number ( maybe Ward and his team did, because they certainly swerved him ? ).

Now here we are talking about Froch being crushed by a MW, who as good as he is hasn't fought anybody on Frochs level, let alone somebody bigger and granite chinned.

I like Martin Murray, but i'm pretty certain had he fought Froch he wouldn't have seen less rounds than he did against Golovkin.

Golvkin is a talent, and he certainly impressed me against Murray, but this hype is getting ridiculous.

Froch would eventually overwhelm him and stop him, and i'd be surprised if he managed to land a clean shot on Ward, in fact i think Ward would TKO him

I see what you're saying about people writing Froch off and over hyping GGG but that goes both ways too. Just like people were wrong to write off Froch against Taylor and Bute people could be wrong to write off GGG against Froch.

 

Fair point, BUT those 8 pounds make a World of difference imo, especially when most are basing the outcome of the fight on Golovkins power.

Froch has no question marks over his chin, and as good as Golovkins chin is at 160, would it stand up to punches like the one that dropped Froch in the first Groves fight ?

Abraham was iron chinned and a massive puncher at 160, yet he was unable to have an impact against Froch, and looked hurt and uncomfortable when Froch landed clean, even with jabs.

Bute was the hot favourite to beat Froch, and plenty thought he'd KO Froch, or cripple him with his trademark liver shot. Bute landed clean on Frochs chin and body yet Froch just smiled at him and kept walking him down, and Bute is a BIG SMW.

 

Somebody picked Bute to KO Froch? Who? There seems to be a degree of rewriting of history with regards to this fight. Bute was the favourite, but not by much, and those who picked him to win did so by razor thin decision.

I'd pick Golovkin to beat Froch, but not just because of Golovkin's power. Froch never looks good against outstanding technical boxers, and with his excellent footwork I could see Golovkin easily outboxing him.

 

I'm not sure if people are basing it solely on GGG's power, probably his overall ability as a fighter.

I think the weight makes a difference but the bigger difference imo is other qualities. In Froch's case its his reach, toughness and power. In Ward's case it's his speed and skill level.

With Abraham I think it's more to do with skill level and fighting style than size. Taylor was also a former MW, less of a puncher than AA but had more success against Froch than AA did because of skill level and fighting style. AA beat Simon by UD, GGG KO'd him in 1 round, skills and fighting style.

It's true that we don't know how GGG would fare at SMW, he could be great, average or terrible. That's why I think picking Froch or GGG to win in any fashion, is reasonable.

 

Do the casuals in England know who GGG is?

Would love to see that fight, hopefully Froch has enough left.

Re his legacy, think it would depend what GGG goes on to do. If he beats Froch and does turn into an ATG think is will enhance legacy for taking the fight but proved too old
