yea Chavez was a huge middleweight but yet his next fight is at 172. couldn't keep that up for too long.
If you walked around near 170 at 5'10" lean you would look like a tank too. He's strong and big. Middleweights typically are. It's like saying why are Flyweights so tiny??? Well if you were 112 you would look tiny too.
Martinez definitely wasn't a small middleweight. Cotto is a small middleweight. Ouma was small middleweight. Golovkin, is a medium sized middleweight. Martinez was medium sized. Pavlik was a big middleweight.
Golovkin has a thin frame and can make 154. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall, but gets fantastic leverage, knows how to set up his opponent...............
He was 172 after a month of training at the 30-day weigh in for Murray. He probably walks around at 178-180
if there were a top 5 or 10 elite boxers most suited for their weight class, Golovkin would be on the list at mw. not too big, not too small.
perfectly sized middleweight. With the current weigh-in rules he can probably make 154 without too much problems and be big at that weight. For a MW he's just the right size. A guy like Chavez jr wasn't a MW at all, wich was clear because he often missed the weight or had to cheat to make it.
