CW loses it's luster b/c of the lack of financial prowess of it's titlists.

If it were to become a glamour division like LW, WW, MW, LHW, or HW, it would probably be considered the strongest division in boxing, and rightly so, since most athletic and talent men land somewhere between 5'10-6'2 between 185-210 lbs.

Thats just where most men are, and whenever the largest portion of talent lies, it's generally where the most competitive fights can be made.

BUT.....the $$$$$ is at HW, and guys like Huck, Usyk, and Wlodarcyk would be unwise to not make the leap as their careers progress.

They could easily find ways to win on their strngths vs the like Potvetkin, Fury, Wilder etc. :think

I would say Murray, Canelo, Geale, Lee, Quillin, NDam, Lemiuex, Andrade, Martirosyan, and Cotto are ALL VERY GOOD.

All of whom would command respect if they were fighting regularly vs solid opposition.
Lee is gonna be ELITE when he beats Quillin. Lemiuex, ELITE when he beats NDam.
Jacobs vs Eubank Jr would produce and elite fighter, as will Charlo vs Martirosyan.

I gotta believe you are UNDERESTIMATING the potential of the division IB.

This could be a GOAT division IF these fights get made.:think

    :yep

I'm a Golovkin fan too but there isn't one guy who'd even pose a realistic threat to Golovkin at MW

Thats a weak division to me

Its not weak but if suffers from the same problem the HW division has suffered for years.

Namely, one guy is a LOT better than everyone else in the division.

The guys below him aren't bad, its just they cant compete with him.

Hopefully the new batch of fighters coming through can change that

I wouldn't say it's weak, not particularly strong though either. The post above also makes a good point.

I guesstimate that the overall field of middleweight competitors is stronger than the field of middleweight competitors Marvin Hagler fought. Probably considerably stronger.

    - At 160 Derevyanchenko and Murata who you didn't list are the best MW prospects along with Khytrov.

    - At 154 Argentinian Brian Castano is the best prospect imo and Zewski, Kavalauskus, Islam, Spyrko all appear solid.

160 is a bit better than some people claim but not quite as strong as you say imo. Eubank/Jacobs winner wouldn't make either of them elite, the N'Dam/Lemieux winner possibly, certainly more so than the prior two.

Biggest problems are the division has been in limbo for a little while with Cotto's hostage taking and while the talent pool is decent the best fights that could be made aren't getting done which is true for most divisions.

Unfortunately that's only going to get worse with PBC fracturing the talent pool since guys like Quillin, Jacobs, Khytrov, Derevyanchenko are in their own league and we won't see them against GGG any time soon.

MW is fine now and will get even better. Just look what we have!

Quillen-Most athletic and avoided with a hot Jewish wife and a square dealing manager who makes all the right moves for him.

Jacobs- Great fighter who's only loss should have an (*) because he was totally depleted with cancer and was still schoolin' Pirog before the premature stoppage.

Willie Monroe Jr-As slick as sweet pea Whitaker only bigger.

Harrison-What can you say? When it is all said and done he will be TBE at MW. Nobody can match his physical gifts and he had it harder growing up than all previous MW greats combined.

After all: His mother had to walk to woik. Did you get that? WALK TO WORK when he was a kid. If hardship like that does not forge you out of steel, nothing will. Golovkin losing his two older brothers in the army is NOTHING compared to what Harrison dealt with as a child.

    MW's are doing just fine!!!

The biased are claiming that the middleweight division is weak because Golovkin beats them all..................is the best 160 lb. out there................the same biased haters claim the heavyweight division is weak because of Vladimir Klitschko, but if Wilder becomes a real champion they will claim the heavyweight division is better than at any time in history. If Kovalev beats Pascal and Stevenson, they will say the 175 lb. division is weak, ad infinitum.............

    Oh sure.

The likes of SRL, Hearns and Duran aren't fit to wash the jockstraps of ATGs like Murray, Geale and Curtis Stevens.

Middle at the moment is deeper than Super, Junior MW, and LHW.
