Floyd - This fight happened because of me not Manny

Floyd’s right.......this is happening because of him. The flip side and reflection on the past 5 or 6 years, Floyd’s also the reason the fight didn't happen sooner. I don't think anyone questions that now.....Everyone is just elated he had a change of heart no matter what caused him to finally step up.

Noone expected him to say "I was pressured into this fight If I die please bury me with my plane "

 

This fight happened because he is cornered. Every fight fan will crucify him if he avoided Pacquiao.

 

everytime pacquiao was brought up to floyd he did'nt even want to talk about it, he'd change the subject, he wanted nothing to do with it.
now he's saying he wanted the fight all along, his behaviour for the last 5 years would suggest otherwise.

 

The only other option was Khan - IMO a far harder fight for Floyd at this stage - for far less money

He'll say absolutely anything to make himself sound good, it doesn't mean its true.

 

This is all true and a lot of boxing fans need to understand this.

BUT, what I hate (and not saying you necessarily do this Scar) is when fans use this defense of the fight not happening like they are in line to get paid.

I am still mad this fight didn't happen 5 years ago when both were at their peak because I am a fan of boxing. Not Mayweather or Pac and their bank accounts.

Its not like either man was still on the way up s****ing together a living, they were multi-million $ earners already.

The fight is now happening and I am still looking forward to it, but its a diminished product compared to what it should have been. That's because of the greed of the fighters/promoters involved.

We should all recognise why the fight is happening now not 5 years ago, but no true fan of boxing should ever defend it.

 

I simply cannot support an athlete making a fool of himself with these kind of idiotic statements.

 

Wait so Freddie Roach has admitted they ducked Floyd during early negotiations and y'all still on this board blaming Floyd for the fight not happening? Are some if you incapable of learning? Understanding facts?

 

My instinct tells me that it was Showtime more than anyone or thing else. Showtime entered the contract with Floyd with a business model. They expected to lose money on most of the fights with the expectation of a big payoff when he fought Manny. You can bet that the contract stipulated a certain level performance for the entire contract.

 

he is still holding on to his public image like a politician lying. they really need to keep repeating that their camp made the fight happen. lol. if their camp made the fight happen then there would have been no lots of issues involved as pac had been waiting for him. he tried to destroy pac's career with ped's accusation and now he wants to fight him but just with usada testing only and avoiding pac's request for vada which shoulb be insignificant for the man who claims to be cleaning the sport. hehehe

 

Floyd punked Manny and Koncs to their face in Miami. Sonnen afterwards Top Prank took away their imaginary deadline and Manny immediately stopped saying that Floyd is scared, all he has to do is sign an imaginary contract that never existed. This is why Floyd says the fight only happened because of him. I know this forum full of pac****s and Floyd haters just don't want to give credit to where it's due but that confrontation is the main contributor to why this fight was made.

 

my thoughts exactly. really bad PR move on his part. he's inadvertently taking credit for the fight not happening all these years.

 

I'm not sure what the big deal is about what he said here, it's just Floyd being Floyd. He wants everyone to know he dictates and decides on who he fights. It doesn't matter if Manny Pacquiao wanted to fight me or not, he doesn't decide anything, I decided to fight him and I get what I want. It's all about control and power.
