Yes I can't disagree. HW is the weakest or perhaps better than one or two divisions at the moment. But MW is also in the bottom third of the divisions easily without even thinking about it (so, bottom 6, I guess).

MW doesn't have much depth and the elite fighters are Golovkin, Cotto (1-0 at the weight), Andy Lee, and Pete Quillin.

Wladimir and Povetkin are a better top 2 combo and miles ahead of whomever you rank top 2 at MW. And then the guys beyond Quillin/Lee/Cotto have comparable HW's to stack up to in Pulev/Wilder/Fury (yes, two may be jokes but in terms of accomplishment and relative to the division). It's not quite as overwhelming of a difference as many would assume right now.

I'll go as far as to say that resume-wise, beating Jennings right now is a clear (although not a complete landslide) better P4P win than beating Monroe would be, easy.

 

Not sure what kind of comparison is ongoing, but:

Klitschko is the undisputed longtime champion.

Jennings is a legit top 10 contender (unlike Glazkov for example).

Golovkin is the acknowledged MW champion.

Monroe Jr seems like an up and coming prospect.

 

Jennings seems to have good movement and is definitely motivated by this opportunity; I think the first couple rounds will be interesting if not competitive.

While Wlad always has great motivation and preparation; i believe him when he says his status as a new father as well as a return to MSG have him on another level.

Looking forward to the Klitschko Show and Wlad turning up as a monster.

I do second that completely.

However I just make a conscience effort to separate my projections and opinions from what has actually already occurred. Otherwise I'd turn into the average ESB goblin poster.

 

I like the Golovkin-Monroe fight.

Monroe 5'10", 74"

Golovkin will be fighting a slick, prime boxer with a longer reach that moves and counters. It'll be extremely interesting to see how Golovkin handles this. Ultimately I think Golovkin wins but looks poor at times. Although I'm sure Golovkin will find his target in round 2 or 3 and wobble him enough to slow him down, making the rest of the fight a cake walk.

I like Jennings but I don't give him a shot in hell against Klitschko.

Jennings 6'3", 84"

I think for Jennings to pull off the upset he needs to jab his way in, slip a counter if it comes, and work the body on the inside. He has the longer reach but I think Klitschko fights better on the outside and... that right hand..... Jennings needs to avoid the right and go downstairs. And when he's "inside" working the body he should disguise a hook to look low and bring it up while Klits' hands are down.

Theyre both underrated fights, particularly Monroe.

While Smoak is correct to point out that in terms of resume they are nothing special, an examination of their abilities in the ring also shows that they are competent professionals.

As far as ranking, Monroe is high on the alphabet soup lists now.. and I think will make accepted top10 if/when TBR and Ring get around to removing the detritus from their lists. (Sturm, Soliman, Martinez, Taylor no business being ranked at this point)
