Dingaan Thobela's achievement was extraordinary. He won domestic honours as a SFW before winning the WBO LW. He also won and lost the WBA title. He then picked up Inter belts at 147, 154 & 168 before beating Glen Catley for the WBC SMW title. He finished his career overweight in a domestic LHW title. Roy Jones having won at 160, 168 & 175 then stepped up to face John Ruiz for the WBA HW title. Broner won at 130 & 135 then won and lost and 147 before dropping back to 140 Today who could jump 2 weights or more and pick up a title? Imagine - Floyd v Golovkin, Golovkin v Kovalev, or Kovalev v Chagaev
in the lower weights its easier to jump because the gaps are smaller, maybe butler or yafai could win at super fly and move up to super bantam which is only a 7lbs jump I think. if (big if) khan fights and beats cotto he could be jumping 2 weights from his current division to win a title, and will be jumping 3 from winning at LWW DLH went up the weights from SFW to MW I think
GGG vs Kovalev...... Absolute dream of a fight really and I can see that happening because GGG has no one really at 168, good chance of Froch retiring and cant see the Ward fight happening.
Vinny Pazienza won light-weight world title and then jumped to light-middle and won world title , and then wen on to fight for the super middle crowns.
Yeah from what I have heard Abel Sanchez doesn't like Kovalev and has since spoke a lot of bad things about him
Inoue did it just a few months ago, and has the potential to go up further. I agree it is easier at the lighter weights, still a great achievement though
Shane Mosley was IBF Lw champ before beating Oscar for WBC ww belt, then beat Oscar a few years later for WBA WBC jm titles I think
Yeah, he's only ½ an inch shorter as me and made welter somehow (yeah, we all know how :!, I think he must have been close to death at that weight. You probably have to look to the lower weights, because of weightdraining and smaller weight gaps. Nowadays it's a lot easier too. Everyone who really follows boxing knows that a guy like Broner never really was a LW and only managed (he came in overweight a few times too) to make that due to modern day weighin rules and actually was still growing in his body.
