What's happening with Anthony Joshua?

Ill admit it, I've never even seen an Anthony Joshua interview since 2012 Olympics.
I might have seen two of his pro fights.
He's just a novice and hasn't fought anyone. Until he fights someone, it's hardly worth watching is it?
It's funny that people get so involved in supporting/hating a fighter who thus far is a nobody in the pro ranks.

Problem with heavyweight boxing in the UK these days, it's based completely on hype and nobody seems to care about actual credentials.
Only two years ago David Price was being hyped as the man to beat Wlad. Seriously, and all over this forum.

don't really care what AJ did before he went into boxing tbh, if he made a mistake fine, he's learned from it and won a gold medal and made a load of money, Brook, murray, khan, chisora, furys family, eubank, benn have all been arrested and in some cases served sentences yet became good boxers, calzaghe and hatton have also taken drugs post career.

whether he comes across as a nice friendly bloke or a **** interviews isn't important, hes a boxer, his job is to win fights in the ring and at present he's doing so and looking good. How he fares against a Johnson, chisora, Thompson, stiverne type opponent will give a good indication of how far he can go.

 

No it won't as these are all glorified punchbags.

 

We know AJ can punch but none of the above 4 punch frequently enough or hard enough to test AJ

 

maybe not, but they've challenged for owned HW world titles, so if he can beat them easily then it shows he's a level above them.

 

Boxing especially HW division has always been about slowly building a fighter then bingo a sink or swim fight.

David Price of course a prime example,found out against Thompson and wanted a rematch and got beat again.He should of been told the last thing he should of done.

Guys my generation would remember Frank Bruno guided slowly and even though he had setbacks reached his goal,made money,Joshua similar physically lets see how far he can go no rush imo.

For Bruno made the most of what he had,defensively exposed which we know but a fantastic ramrod jab which is forgotten.

 

Matt Skelton also challenged for a world title mate.

10 fights, 10 cans, zero punches thrown at him and a complete waste of space.

He needs to start fighting live opponents - the ones who at least throw punches and have a chance of winning

 

I think AJ is on the slowboat for another 2 years and will challenge for a World Title when Wlad has retired.

The UK are usually right behind their sportsmen.....AJ and Kahn are just not feeling the love! To be honest I don't really rate Joshua as been a top heavy as I doubt he'll get past the best in the UK in Tyson Fury.And by the end of the year I'd bet young Hughie Fury will have a better resume than him.But with four belts on offer and with Wlad pushing on then in a few years the belts will be available to all so maybe he'll nab one.

Think a fight with Dillion Whyte is on the cards for later this year and that'll probably be the best he's faced.

 

Khan is a dual National proudly displaying the ****stan flag so that is probably good enough reason for many to dislike him.

The UK public get behind black boxers as we have seen with Frank Bruno, David Haye and Kell Brook so it is not totally a race issue.

The 10 canfests are not helping his popularity.

I just met him in Selfridges a the weekend. He came across as a really good bloke and was happy to have a pic with me. Whether it's all PR or not he does a convincing job as coming across as a decent human being. I like the guy and hope he makes it to the level that's expected of him.
