Makhteienko is now turning it on, aggressive to start the eighth, looking to seize back momentum, putting Sek on the ropes. Makhteienko is taking advantage of Sek apparently having tired himself out in the 6th & 7th. Sek is standing in the way of Makhteienko's curve-ball right hand. Makhteienko is caught by a short jab high on the face while ducking in. Makhteienko bucks against Sek, bumping him a step off. Overhand right by Makhteienko. Sek misses a right jab over his head. Sek is slipping on a wet spot on the canvas. Time out called. Gum shield put back in for Sek. Time in. Makhteienko pumps a 1-2 at the face while Sek flurries with uppercuts on the stomach at point blank. Nonstop trading until the bell, Makhteienko the aggressor.

Very solid effort from Makhteienko.

He was brought in to lose but you wouldn't know it by the way he fought. (nor would you guess their records were 27-2-1 and 4-2 respectively)

Already developing a respect for each other's pop in the 1st.

 

Both are correct, aren't they?

 

Every time I glance over (in between rounds of Brähmer vs. Krasniqi) it seems Lora is finding a new clever way to come at Syrowatka from an unconventional direction, score a few shots - and invariably get sent packing with a flush straight right counter.

Syrowatka has that punch dialed-in.

 

Lora down, midway into the eighth!

Short right hand on a decline, unseen from above as Lora was fishing for one on the body.

 

Lora is refusing to even think about taking a backward step in the final 90 seconds of the eighth, despite having been dropped, not wanting to play it safe, bobbing and weaving his way in and putting the pressure on Syrowatka. Lora is RIPPING away on the body with big left hooks, leaning all the way down so his face is level with his own waist. Lora warned for hitting on the break. HUGE left check hook on the chin by Syrowatka as Lora comes charging in swinging pendulums downstairs.

Round 9

Syrowatka is jabbing with Lora and standing in the pocket. Syrowatka looking very strong & fluid in his punches. Lora is ducking in and looking to swing heavy body punches into the ribs. Counter 1-2s atop the head by Syrowatka. Both are executing punches while stepping around each other. Lora backhands a jab at Syrowatka and then loops a high right at the neck. Syrowatka parries, swatting Lora's gloves away on the back of his left.

Round 10

All-out aggression by Lora. Wild rights swung from behind the back and up at the hairline. Syrowatka ducks and scrambles to his left. Jabs swapped at medium-long range. Syrowatka is backed up as Lora swoops in and digs a hard left hook to the belly. Syrowatka holds. Lora is diving in with overhand rights, pulling them halfway in, and jabbing Syrowatka in the face while turning his face to slip Syrowatka's jabs.

It looks like this was a thriller. Too bad it conflicted with the German card.
