I think it was a very close fight, but I thought Smith won. The best I could see for Julio is a draw. Most of Julio's puches were blocked or missed, but Smith woke up in the fight too late. My scorecard : 10-9 Smith. Good round for Smith. Landed some good clean shots. A lot of Julio's punches missed or were blocked. 10-9 Julio. Very close round. I gave to Julio based on his workrate. 10-9 Smith. Close round, but most os Julio's puches missed or blocked. Smith connected better punches and combinations. 10-9 Julio. Better round for Julio. Smith did almost nothing. Julio by his workrate. 10-9 Julio. Very close round but I gave to Julio based on his higher workrate. 10-9 Julio. Close, but I think Julio landed some good bodyshots and Ishe was too inactive in the first half of the round. 10-9 Smith. Smith finally woke up after 3 rounds and landed some good shots. 10-9 Smith. Smith more agressive and landing more good shots. Julio blocked and missing a lot. 10-9 Smith. Close round but Smith conencting cleaner and better shots. Julio blocked a lot. 10-9 Smith. Smith blocking and counterpunching well. Landed some good hard shots. 96-94 for Ishe Smith. By the way, Atlas' scorecard is BS.
Joel in a close won...Ishe didn't do enough in the beginning of the fight to deserve the win...It is possible to see a draw but NO WAY ISHE WON THAT FIGHT
Smith is the kind of fighter that drives trainers crazy. All the skills and talent in the world but just dont seem to do enough to win fights. I thought that in the later parts of the fight that Smith showed that he could have won the fight easy. In the first four or so rounds he did NOTHING. I had Joel winning 6-4
I thought Joel outworked him, but I give Ishe credit for finishing that last round strong. For the record, I thought Smith should have gotten the nod against Powell.
I dunno joel didn't look good missing and getting those shots blocked. I have to agree. I thought ishe won. He clearly outboxed him. And teddy's scorecard was horrible.
what's funny is that ESPN scored it for Julio and when they showed the recap highlights it was ALL Smith. Smith could have been a bit busier as he was clearly outworked by a guy he could outfight.
There needs to be something done about scoring in boxing. Even when you have one guy clearly winning the fight (Like Sturm-DLH) you will still find 10-20% of people who scored it for the other guy. Even when someone won every round you will still find someone like Divac who scored it for another guy
I would like to know how Julio won the fight. He was clearly outboxed in the last 4 rounds. And he didn't win all the first 6 rounds. Julio was busier but was missing a lot and many of his punches were blocked. Ishe was clearly landing the better and harder shots and connecting much cleaner. Julio was taking a lot of counter left-hooks.
