Chaggy's gonna have to be active for the entire fight and fire HARD counter shots straight into the chin of Browne to garner his respect.

And he'd better come in under 240, or his sluggishness is gonna be his downfall.

He needs to fleet of foot and show some handspeed to win this one.:think

    Yes, Wlad is the CHAMP.

    He's the Undisputed CHAMP.

But Chagaev, LIKE Wilder, is a titlist.

Similar to the Froch Ward situation except Wlad is actually fighting and defending his titles, whereas Froch is considered SMW Champion b/c he actually fights.

Hearing Ricky Hatton is making a big push to get Browne vs Chagaev held in Australia.

Hughie Fury is a better fighter than Lucas Browne already. And if Hughie gets a title shot hed beat the winner no doubt

Where are the news on Browne's title fight? C'mon about time.

Based on Chagaev's last ring appearances Browne has every shot to win the paper title.

I consider it 50/50 but I'll pick Browne bc he is the hungry fighter in this. Chagaev seems semi-retired, just still in it for the money.

Judge rules Chagaev-Oquendo rematch to proceed Chagaev vs Browne

Square Ring Promotions and Hitz Boxing announced today that District Court Judge Ronnie Abrams for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York entered an order in Oquendo vs. Terek Box Event (Case no. 14-cv-9835) preliminarily enjoining the Defendant from, among other things, “promoting or managing Ruslan Chagaev in any bout for the World Boxing Association (“WBA”) World Heavyweight Championship, unless Mr. Chagaev first shall have defended his WBA heavyweight title against Fres Oquendo or vacated the WBA title.”

Oqeundo claims that he wasn't 100% going into the first fight and was going to pull out. Chagaev's team really wanted the fight to go forward so they offered Oquendo more money and an immediate rematch if he fought anyways.

Atleast that's what Oquendo is saying and it seems the judge agreed with him. I wonder if Chagaev does the rematch or vacates instead.

    :think Interesting.

He risks a payday either way. He's pretty shot; Oquendo ran him close last time and could nick a rematch (taking away Chagaev's one bargaining chip to secure a more lucrative date with a Browne) - while vacating makes him the B-side and lowers his earnings potential in a non-title fight with Browne if he can still even secure one. (say, in a WBA eliminator to set up Chagaev vs. Oquendo III or Browne vs. Oquendo...)

That's how I was seeing it and wondered which direction Chagaev goes. I just didn't figure in a third Chagaev-Oquendo fight, I just couldn't go there.

They claimed, successfully now it seems, that the contract for the Chaegev bout contained a rematch clause.

    This is ridiculous.

How does a judge in the southern district of New York have any authority over an organization based in Panama and a fight between a boxer living in Uzbekistan and a fighter from Australia?

What if judges in Panama, Uzbekistan and Australia rule otherwise?

Or what if they just ignore the judge?
