True, been here about a year and yeah took me awhile to get used too, mainly the traffic lol, but while there is undeniable poverty in Certain areas, but I'm not sure how living on 400 bucks a year is possible. Always curious, the Cabdrivers here that I've conversed with make that in 2 to 2.5 weeks. Here to me, that seems like a tough job, lol.

Cabdrivers in Manila make around 25k a month (not per capita though)
on average and are way above the poverty line.Have you
taken a look in Tondo, where more than 700.000 live on 5 square km,
in metro manila? Or the provinces, where you see more pawnshops
than actual businesses in some villages?

No I'll take your word on that. I only keep going to the same places due to work and comfort. Plus the traffic here for me, is overwhelming in manila. I would rather take you up on hoping ebulli re opened so I could try that as well...

Well I agree on the latter, but if there was a way to get this country out
of it's economical and social funk, that would be great. I'll forgo elBulli
    for that.

If you live in a place like the Fort, its easy to not be confronted with the
poverty that is there. It is much more comfortable in a built up modern
    rich area.
