That's what I hate about medical professionals. Inflammation if your bodies natural healing response.

He needs prolotherapy, not a steroid shot.

Prolotherapy will heal his body in the long run, while steroids will hurt him.

Not doctor's fault, they are taught to treat, not heal. There's things doctors can do, but might get their licenses suspended. Why heal, when you can treat it and get income for the rest of the patients life .

For Freddie to do what he does while suffering from that terrible disease Parkinsons syndrome, just shows what cojones Freddie has. Freddie & Manny are very close Freddie will always do whats best for Manny.
To me Freddie is a hero & should be admired

Maybe he can borrow some of Pacquiao's Cortiscosteroids to rub on it. If it works for Pacquiao's leg cramps, maybe it will work for his back.

If you think steroids will hurt him in this case then you're not understanding what I'm saying. He's in dire pain, steroids shut down your immune system and are not a long term solution, but when used intelligently can help him recover.

I have several friends in the medical profession with herniated discs and they do cold laser therapy, yoga, many different forms of therapy as well. However, sometimes when they get into a funk they stop going to therapy and the pain comes back with a vengeance.

I didn't say they should ONLY give him steroids and move on from it. After the steroids calm the pain down, he should begin several forms of therapy. If you think at this stage of disc herniation that someone can now begin therapy then you are kidding yourself.

i've seen a guy who got a steroid shot on his feet because pain from bone spurs. he got osteomyelitis from it, he was on iv anti-biotic for 4-6 weeks....didn't work, iv anti-biotic again for 4-6 weeks didn't work, he ended up getting a below the knee amputation.

another guy, tough green beret with back pain, didn't want to take narcotics, got a cortisone shot, got bone infection and he had to be hospitalized for 6 weeks.

last resort for me would be injection or surgery. he should start off with vicodins, oxy's or dilaudid.
