Etches was starting to come out on top of the fight, yet got hit with a cracking shot. It happens. He'll be back bigger and better, one loss doesn't define a career.
that's true, he was starting to outbox him a bit which is encouraging to some degree as it suggests he's got just a slugger. would of been a worse loss if he got completely schooled like brook dan. He's 24 hopefully he'll come again. He sold over 1000 tickets for the fight didn't he, and maybe thought he had to do a bit more than just win rounds which lead to him getting caught.
His Record is full of euro bums. Their are no learning fights on his record just knock over jobs. Richard Poxton has matched him badly. How can you jump from euro bums to a euro level gatekeeper ffs?
No it doesn't John but i do think it was a serious setback. Pity because he was looking good. Im afraid its back to domestic level for him and I don't think well see Khomitsky here again, despite him being 40 years old.
I know it was a decent shot but should you really be getting wiped out by that type of shot from a fighter of khomitsky's calibre? I'm not so sure, not if you ve got world title aspirations. I was just thinking how solid he looked for a young un moments before it happened too. Think he can be in some fun fights cos he's obviously heavy handed but don't think he has the skills and possibly toughness to go above European level. (which is obviously still a decent level in it's own right). Would like to see Eubank Jr in with khomitsky next for a bit of perspective.
I thought that also. I think the Eubanks are the only British who would risk a fight with this guy after last night. I also think young Eubank would burst the bubble by stopping him. Yes,Adam can still do possibly European level, but I think this defeat will have the same effect on him that Froch had on Groves. i.e. not do him any good.
Everytime Hearn was asked about Etches he mentioned the amount of tickets that he had sold himself. I think this is just a beginning for Etches. Think Matchroom will sign him up.
One loss doesnt. But awful defence does. Guy basically has no defence and is also pretty slow. Footwork is also pretty awful. And he got properly sparked. Makes it extra hard to bounce back.
If Etches was a matchroom fighter Eddie wouldn't have chucked him in with Khomitsky. Easy to put on 50/50 fights when you don't manage a boxer
