Watt was surprisingly sharp at calling for Etches to be allowed to get up but apologised for it afterwards which was fair enough. Halling and Watt need to go however, why not employ Bernstein when he's available? He loves it over here, he's respected and he's probably cheaper than Watt.

Sir Jim was right as usual. If Etches had got to his feet swaying all over the place by all means stop it. Who would argue? To jump on top of the lad and forcefully push his head onto the canvas was bizarre behaviour from Foster. I assume he had a few quid on the away stoppage. He needs to go not Jim.

Jim Watt is a useless commentator, but he was in no way out of order last night, he saw the fighter try to get up and commentated on that.

 

If anything Foster pushed Etchins head to the floor and gave him no opportunity to even try and get up.
I think Jim was right.

 

The problem I have with Watt and a lot of other boxing commenters is the fact they feel they have to fill in any silience with whatever they can think of.

He's unable to just let the action flow and watch for a short time. We're all semi intelligent and i'm guessing for the most part not blind so why he can't just shut up and only say something when he feels it might add some value is beyond me.

I don't know if the referee was right or not. I don't know what he saw. I can only say what I see.

1. Etches was knocked down hard.
2. He seemed aware of the fact, ie. he was making an attempt to get up right away.
3. The referee had his hand pushing down on his face and his fingers in his mouth within a couple of seconds !
4. Etches looked distressed and confused with the referee doing that to him.

I would like there to be an option to turn commentary off, and still have the rest of the sound on.
