first of all i'd like to say that jamie wilson himself done all he could, he tried his best but stevie wonder could see last night that jamie was so far out of his depth it was scary. when i first heard that he would be on i couldnt believe it!! he has looked bang average in all his bouts and i cant get my head round how on earth he got his chance after 5 bouts against nobodies. i understand jamies reasons for taking the bout but where were the people looking out for him? his manager tommy gilmour has thrown him to the wolves. he has been in the game a very long time and must have known his charge was up against it. since he matches him and knows the level of opponents he has boxed so far. but imo most of the blame must fall at his coach. chris mcadam take a bow because last night could have ruined jamie wilsons career. kris works with him day in day out and when that call came from tommy it should have been his decision to say no!!!! he has been a coach and boxed at profesional levels, he must have known that jamie was far from ready for last night after beating 5 nobodies. if i was jamie wilson then after last night i would seriously be considering a change of coach and management. i dont know how long his management deal with tommy is so that might be a hard one but his first call monday should be to get rid of chris mcadam because he obviously doesnt care about jamie in the slightest. there is so much better coaches out there that would try do better for him and not throw him to the wolves. billy nelson, terry mccormack, peter harrison, steve maguire, paul weir would all be better for him and im positive that they wouldnt throw there fighter under the bus for 10%!!! lol
If you are offered the chance to be in the main event of a Sky Sports Live broadcast, fighting for the Commonwealth title, you take it. If you turn it down then thats a real example of poor management. He was pulled out at the right time. He bags some good experience, exposure and purse, and he'll be better for it.
he was pulled out by his manager, his coach was busy in the corner trying to gee him up for another round. anyone there could see that jamie had shot his bolt and was running on empty so why was chris mcadam not the one who pulled him? maybe he wanted jamie to go through the embarassment like he goes through everytime you watch 100 ko's on tv!! lol has anyone else seen him rolling around the floor with his wee tartan shorts on. but jokes aside he is an experienced coach and should have been the one pulling him out. at the end of the day it is someones son that he is in control of!!
To be fair to both Chris and Tommy, I was sat right behind them next to the press and they were both discussing it. I don't doubt Chris' intentions to keep him going or not. All that matters is they gave it a good go and Jamie has come away with a lot of new admirers and he's got something to build on.
