Here's another reason why Kovalev will never be able to fight Stevenson or Beterbiev without signing with Haymon. Haymon will say that PBC product is the best in the world, so do you really think that Haymon will take the chance to lose his face in front of everybody by taking the risk that Kovalev beat The champion of the "best boxing product in the world"? Never. They will create a situation where Kovalev will have no choice but to refuse a low-ball offer. Mark my words.
This is exactly what we knew was coming from miles away. He's now boxers "advisor" (manager/promoter) and has his very own production. Now he has his very own boxing league complete with belts, so he can make his fighters drop the belts and replace it for his own. That also makes it easy to avoid threats from outside. They just don't get rated, and he can bring on the Salka's of this world as "defenses" for his "champions" :-(
This along with the Amatuer Boxing Association making a pro league it's going to get crazy. I did here that WBA, WBC, and IBF were going to hold tournaments and combine their belts though.
I believe everyone saw this coming, it was only a matter of time. His quest to control the boxing version league ala UFC was a forgone conclusion.
That was the end game and I expect these belts to be implemented as early as next year. Question is, will Haymon cash out cowards like Garcia, Wilder and Stevenson or make them drop the belts?
Yet everyone roots for the UFC, where every fighter is under the UFC Banner (Dana White) Promoter & Manager. So why would it be a problem ?
i know how I feel and its pretty ****ed off more belts are needed about as much as more suicide bombers
the only good thing about a PBC belt would be the removal of sanctioning fees. Sanctioning fees are boxings biggest poison. :-(
I guarantee Haymon will tweak weight cut offs too, he's gonna have weird weight classes like UFC. Light welterweight will be whatever Broner and Garcia can make, so like 150 lbs :rofl
