    50/50 FIGHT .

Either fighter could be put to sleep at any given point .

I would not be shocked which way it goes .

Although I would say so far Ruslan seems to be the more durable fighter .

Then again , Ruslan has not faced other fellow bangers like himself .

Its going to be an Interesting fight . No question .

Ruslan can be outboxed and Lucas - to his credit - isn't as bad a technician as people think. He can win this by boxing but if he gets dragged into a war I see Ruslan coming out on top.

He compared him alot to Garcia, maybe because he had just fought him or maybe because they were comparable. He said that Danny never hit him flush, and yet Herrera lost the fight, a fight he knew and said was close after. So knowing all that, you have to ask why didn't Herrera take the chance of committing a little more to his punches in order to put more effort into winning the rounds? The answer could be very be what he felt from Garcia had the potential to be more scary than what he felt from Provo. Actually, that thought experiment made me realize there could be evidence for this and voila, there is.

According to compubox punchstats Herrera threw about twice as many power punches against Provo than he did against Danny, he also threw many less jabs against Provo, meaning, he took over twice as much chance against Provo than he did against Danny. This could be because the boxing ability gap between Provo and Danny allowed Herrera twice as much opportunity, or be because that something told Herrera he should be more wary of Danny's power and so took much less chance. I think in any case it says that Danny is the far better fighter which is all relevant of course because Lucas has already fought Danny and did well against him. This is actually convinces me more that Lucas wins this fight.

Are you serious about Danny Swift Garcia's power? The only stoppages the guy has is aginst either old men or tomato can sparring partners. (Oh wait I for got about Rod Salka who was not even in the top 100 of LIGHTWEIGHT fighters!) Besides his lucky shot he threw with his eyes closed, against glass chinned Khan what other quality guy has he stopped?

I still had Herrera winning the fight in PR. (Many did) I doubt his power had anything to do with the number of shots thrown in Danny's fight with Herrera. Provo is in your face and trying to kill you from Rd 1 on, so you have no choice but to throw a lot back.

Are you implying he's adapted the Margarito method, OP?

Well I saw Lucas get rocked multiple times by Molina, so there's no doubt in my mind that Provo can hurt him in their fight.

I still favor Lucas slightly over Ruslan; I just think Matthyse has a slightly better skillset overall and packs a bit more power in his punches. Still this is as close to a pick 'em fight as there is, and it definitely has the ability to be a FOY candidate if both men bring their A games.

Could go either way but I too slightly favor Matthysse. If it becomes a boxing match I got Matthysse, if it becomes a mauling match I got Provo. Can't wait, guaranteed fireworks.

lol, calm down hater, you act as if Danny is some mover who Herrera did not have his opportunity to land punches on. Fact still remains, Herrera knew the Danny fight was close and yet still did not throw as many punches or nearly as many power punches as he did against Provo in order to try to get a better chance at the win. Danny is a stationary fighter and yet the only thing Herrera felt comfortable throwing was a jab, this was not the case against Provo no matter how you spin it.

The number one weapon a boxer uses against a pressure fighter to keep them off is the jab, especially when they know their power shots are not gonna keep them off anyway. They would rather just frustrate them into stopping pursuit in most cases unless they add up the variables and realize it's better for them to let them keep pursuit as it increases their odds of winning by way of giving them more opportunity to land something of significance.

He felt more comfortable in taking chances against Provo, not Danny, no matter how you spin it. He didn't fight Danny the way he did because he wanted to lose, it was simply where the risk factor landed him at. He knew the fight was close so he knew landing more punches on Danny would increase his chances, yet, he did not do so.
