Do you think with so many 6'7" plus guys around now there needs to be the introduction of a Super Heayweight division in the pro game?

Are you of the opinion that changes are necessary to ensure decent match-ups, or are you a traditionalist who believes things should remain as they are?

    No.
For continuity and prestige Heavyweight must remain the largest weight division.
As has been discussed before, if changes are to be made it must be by adjusting the division weight limits.

Okay, so should adjustments be made? Or should things be left as they are?

Not for me, though Cruiserweight could be brought up by adding a weight division in somewhere. Cruiserweight at 210, light heavyweight at 190, super middle at 175 and middleweight at 165 and light middle at 156 then the rest stay the same. They are the two possibilities to make it more even, however their are cases to be made for it staying as it is now.

I wouldn't support any extra divisions but I'd be happy enough for the limits to be changed. I think every division would need to change, though obviously less of a jump at the lower weights. The light heavy to cruiser limit in particular is a huge jump of 25lbs. A boxer putting on that much weight at the lower end of the scale could compete in 8 different classes on their way up.
From a practical point of view however, how could it be implemented? Tell all the existing champions that they have to box heavier? What about the inevitable situation somewhere around light middle when that champion would now belong in a lower division, which would already have a champion in the same organisation?
I think the weight classes we have now will stick.

every month or few months someone comes up with that, and the answer is a simple NO.

1st problem... with prior day weighins, where do you put the weightlimit? 240? 235? 230? Most SHW's would have no problem making that, so they can fight in both divisions anyway. Thing you'll actually create is a OVERWEIGHT division for fat fvcks that real SHW's can feast upon.
2nd problem... you'll divide the already lacking division into 2 divisions. Already too many divisions in boxing nowadays.
3rd problem... how do you compare legacies when it's already so hard now? The HW division has been the division of kings because there is NO weight limit. If you want to be the best, you'd have to fight and beat opponents that can be a 100lbs heavier and a foot taller as you, and the other way round of course. And that has always been that way, even in Joe Louis' era for instance.
When fans of small HW's nowadays complain about it, it's because they don't want their man to have the same obstacles as the others in history had because then he can't win.

Best solution to today's fighters getting bigger is to up the CW limit to 210 like some suggested, and the rest of the divisions can follow suit.

No, they should get rid of some divisions, not add new ones.

What about all these ridiculous height and reach differentials though? :conf

I quite like the idea of upping the Cruiser limit. Something has to be done surely..

Imo, bring in a super-cruiser division.

I agree, make it 95kg. 15 stones. Wlad is 112kg so still a hefty gap.

The shorter fighters need to learn to deal with it.

We need heavyweights who can fight. Height is kind of irrelevant.
If there were some decent fighters around, like Holyfield or Tyson quality .... I don't think they'd be losing to Wilder and Fury !!

Don't you think the heavyweights should have similar differentials to the other divisions though? What's so special about the heavies?
